...oh yeah, the movie. Well, it wasn't your ordinary Clint Flick. Can't really say much else without explaining the plot and possibly ruining it for someone who wants to go see it. I'll just leave it at that.

Bird Box Absolutely garbage dialogue but it had some interesting ideas and really thrilling and suspenseful scenes. Some cheesy moments too but overall it was gouda and a pretty fun watch. 3/5 Spoiler for .:

Christmas/New Years is a great time to catch up on films. Back on my war film streak. Two good ones:
"Der Hauptmann" aka "The Captain" aka "Bödeln från Emsland". Great film, really well edited. The use of Black and White just seemed to make it much more stronger, sharper, and memorable. True story about Willy Paul "Willi" Herold[citation needed], also known as "the Executioner of Emsland", a German soldier who at the end of World War II pretended to be a Luftwaffe captain and embarked on the murder of inmates at prison camps. Another good one: A running documentary about WWI. Jackson's studio restored the footage beautifully. The footage looks so crisp. |

The hype is somewhat validated, but I'm more proud to see that this Mexican film by one of our great Mexican directors is in serious discussion for a Best Picture win. A Spanish film winning best picture would be incredible representation for us beans.
