Don't view it as a movie. View it as a show on Discovery Channel. The last five minutes of BWP gave me chicken skin like crazy.

Ever seen Mark of the Devil? Old and low funded, but damn, some of the most disturbing scenes I've ever witnessed. We're not talking quality movie making but the fact that all of it really happened at one point in history, just slams your brain.
This was the movie that when you bought a ticket to see it, they gave you a "barf bag". Wish I'd kept mine. Probably would have fetched a few dollars on Ebay. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_of_the_Devil

I don't think I would give it that title but I respect that. The movie has such a brutal realism that makes it extra terrifying. Probably top 5. Not too sure of my number one, possibly The Shining since it really brings you into the descent into madness in ways that are hard to notice. Maybe Inland Empire. I don't think that one gets enough credit for how scary it is on a sensory level alone. The Nightmare is another one, but only because it made me realize that I'd experienced sleep paralysis several times before.
Its suspense and reliance on the viewer for the horror was well executed. Some good atmosphere and soundtrack, but the acting took me out of it and the plot seemed pretty half baked.

You all seen the South Korean Flick "I Saw the Devil"?
Makes all of these other movies being tossed about seem kinda tame.

Brutal ain't necessarily scary imo even though they're closely related. Have you seen Martyrs (French original)?

Martyrs was a ****ed up movie. That movie is like pure despair in film form.

It’s still great. What’s incredible about it is that not all of it is even being acted. The actors were genuinely ****ed with in that forest, and had little idea what they were even getting into. I think the main actress even had to ask her mom or something if it was a good idea to even do the movie or if she was being put in danger. The reactions are so genuine and the atmosphere is so bleak. And yes like someone else said the final 10 minutes are complete madness and very spooky

Leon: The Professional
One of those flicks I have to watch at least once every 5 years. Oldman and Russo are great, but the 12 year old Portman, in her film debut, steals the movie. "This is...... from............. Mathilda...." BLAM!!!!!
