It's not a ripoff since it comes from Jim Henson studios..bbut it reminds me of Avenue Q
|
Quick trip to wiki says that Jim Henson studios started developing it the very same year that Puppet Rapist came out (2008).

I tried watching Stardust to experience for the first time what it's like to watch the movie of a book you read.. I turned it off in about 30 minutes, I now understand the pain.. Fuck that movie.

Did you read the book? Everything I saw in the first 30 minutes was resolved differently than the book, and that frustrated me.

No. If you're not going to bring the book to life than name it something different or add "based VERY LOOSELY on the novel by an author whose work is too complex for a dolt like me to translate to film". It felt like a hollywood cashgrab targeting fans more than a genuine attempt to recreate the novel. It's the equivalent of a band covering a song and changing the lyrics.
|
"Based on the novel but ffs it's a different medium, expect differences you whiny bitches".
|
The medium doesn't prevent you from telling the story the way it was told in the novel.. In the novel the boys father walked him to the wall and asked the guards to let me through because thats where he was from.. In the movie the kid caused a scene with the guard and finally got by. That's not who the character was, it just sells more tickets.

Idk about this story in particular, but it sounds like they took the liberty to make their movie more suspenseful. Don't expect identical adaptations man, you're just gonna get frustrated.
