On an early Tarantino binge. His first 5 films are ****ing flawless.
Had lunch a table over from Robert Forster a few years back and raved to him about Jackie Brown and Breaking Bad. Dude could not have been cooler. Just an awesome celebrity encounter.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
I loved this. Mildred is basically an exaggerated version of my mother. The Shape of Water. I liked this. Alright story, but outstandingly beautiful direction. A pleasure to watch from start to finish. |

I haven't been going to many new movies lately - so ****ing busy w/ life (mostly work) that I just don't have the time right now. I want to see Ready Player One though, looks good but I don't think I've ever seen a Spielberg movie that I wasn't disappointed with in every way other than visually.

Come on. Don't be one of those guys fooled by his gimmicky shtick.
He's alright and entertaining at best. Don't think I'll ever want to rewatch anything by him tbh.

Never really liked his trademark stylistic traits: Some movie references, "cool" conversations, dudes with attitude, non-linear storytelling and a lot of ultra violence sprinkled on top (plenty). Not that any of those things are bad on their own, but it gets a bit much and a bit old when he always turns everything up to 11. I honestly don't really 100% understand why every film geek loves Tarantino so much. |
