Same for a good amount of years when I was out of work, but it also made me kind of crazy due to a lack of social interaction.

I'm fortunate that where I live now, I'm a 5-15 minute walk aways from my younger brother and 2 good friends from my university days.

More than 10 years ago, I lived in another city where I had nothing going on, no friends, far away from family... that really ****ing tested the limits of my sanity. All of my lowest moments, mentally speaking, was while living there. I remember watching Dr. Phil and other **** like that on TV much of the day, just to quiet my thoughts. Yikes. Never wanna to go back to that.

Brings back memories of having no job (several times), one single friend (across the city), and living in an area with almost nothing but residential neighborhoods. Jesus Christ was I probably a hair's breadth from being certifiable more than once. The last time I was probably saved by discovering that my library had a computer lab, which was when I discovered MB. So thanks, ***gots.

I really get that. I think MB is of some importance in keeping me sane, even now. I'm still spending a lot of time alone every week. This place provides some sort of familiar thing to hold on to. Can't say I know anyone in here super personally, but it still feels like some kind of "home".

TBH I don't particularly care for lots of IRL social interaction as I find it exhausting, stressful, and not particularly rewarding, but a mixture of shallow work relationships and MB bull**** seems to satisfy me. I'm a hermit by nature but I do have my requirements for human interaction, they're just far lower than most people.

I used to think I was the same. My actual limit seems to be about a week alone, then I start to get the slight beginnings of cabin fever. One week with just work relations and the internet = fine. Two weeks = I'm feeling a little unhinged. 3 weeks+ = No telling where my mind will go. By week 6 I'll be writing Pastafarian manifestos on my walls with my own feces.

I'm basically a "lone wolf nerd" who is way more socially oriented than what my lifestyle gives me. Not really a lone wolf, then. I think it speaks volumes that I read comment threads and opinions on things every day. I need to read the thoughts of other people than me.

Sigh. Another person more socially engaged than I. When the world is mine I will keep you in a cage to amuse me, which is more than I can say for the rest of your peers. Although it's hard for me to say when I'm unhinged because of lack of social interaction or just because I'm socially unhinged in general, but from past experiences I'd say that I'm more or less at a manageable level. I'd be shocked if I was ever truly mentally healthy tbh.

I think we'd get along IRL. My friends aren't exactly the most "normal" people you'd find. I've always been haning out with outsiders, even if I'm a normie in the sense that I need a lot of social interaciton to not go postal.

Can we make this thread more sad please? We've got a good head start.

I enjoy "straight men" whom I can bounce my nonsense comedy off of, so I imagine that we might actually get along. You're not offended by even my most horrendous bull**** and I find your points of view to be fun and interesting. So yeah we could probably be friends.
