Quality and rating are pretty different mate. Inception is his most overrated because it gets praise for being a lot more complex and deep than it really is.

Am I the only person who thought that Dunkirk was excruciatingly boring? I like Nolan's work typically, but that was just torture and I felt like there was absolutely nothing memorable about it. I do quite like Memento and the Dark Knight Trilogy, and I would agree that he hasn't released anything that was really bad. I prefer Tarantino, but I respect Nolan for what he's done.

I wasn't actually aware they had made a movie out of this. I knew that some Discworld cartoons exist, but not a full movie. Could be my cup of tea, although the books never quite caught on for me.

The Prestige comes close to being bad. I'm not sure I was supposed to have uncontrollable laughing fits when they finally revealed how his wild magic tricks were possible.

I agree but I still think it's a pretty good movie.

You don't think it's bloated and weighed down by corny conventions as a film trilogy?

If you take into consideration how well the movies are portrayed from the books, you'd understand the trilogy a lot more. Return of the King is easily one of the best movies ever made, or at the very least, top 10.

As far as plot goes it was a very true rendition, yes. While that's an element of what makes the movies a bit bloated, most of what I'm talking about when I criticize the trilogy comes down to filmmaking techniques like forced grandiose tracking shots, by-the-numbers score, cheap goofy humour, Transatlantic accents, and a load of other items. I still think that the movies range from 7-8/10.

he’s definitely skilled at creating memorable moments that will make you forget about everything else in the film

see:

the second half of the dark knight dragging like hell
inception being about as complex as Kiii’s taste in movies
interstellar portraying some of the most laughable scenes ive seen in recent years because nolan couldnt decide if he wanted to make a film that was scientifically accurate or a romcom

im sure there’s stuff i bitch about with memento and the prestige as well but i cant think of them atm

didnt see dunkirk cuz it looks boring and it’s hard to say if it’s actually good outside of being made by him
