I wanna hit you tbh. I love the Lion King, love it hard, once of my favorite movies ever, but tbh I think I'd still put Beauty and the Beast just over it. The settings, Lumiere and Cogsworth, the gothic art design, a romantic storyline which actually works and doesn't feel rushed and/or pointless and is easily the OTP of Disney, a soundtrack which is at least as good, and... well Belle just does things to me. But seriously if you haven't seen Beauty and the Beast then you simply can't consider yourself a fan of the Disney Renaissance any more than you can if you haven't seen The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, or the Lion King. Those four movies and all four movies are simply required watching for any Disney fan. **** Sleeping Beauty, go and ****ing watch Beauty and the Beast right ****ing now. Like, srsly right the **** now and don't sleep till you have.

I'd like to watch Beauty and the Beast, but honestly, the 50's classics have a stronger pull on me right now. I think Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty are the two I would most like to watch at this point. |

Seriously go rewatch Aladdin and tell me that the Genie still holds up the same as he did when you were a kid. As much nostalgia as I have for the Genie he was kind of the original sin for modern Disney.

Beauty and the Beast is just the more intimate movie to me and I guess that means just a bit more.

You mean human emotion? It is kind of unsettling at first.

It's not like Beauty and the Beast is bad, it's just that Lion King is just like, you know, better and a lot more interesting.
Also kinda ****ed that they killed the guy trying to save a kidnapped woman just because the animators had a grudge.

Back then, I remember not liking Hercules all that much and that one where an Incan ruler is turned into a Llama or something... I just hated it. So Mulan was the last great one for me. But like I said, I don't know if I would think it is great now. |
