I only watched because my younger brother - who is an even bigger film nerd than I am - insisted that it was actually better than you'd think. Solid movie, for what it is.
Massive emphasis on the bolded because it's really not that great of a movie (though it should be noted that I am too intelligent for most American comedies). As far as that genre, Mean Girls>>>>>>

Haven't seen mean Girls, but yeah, very much "for what it is". I will almost never feel like sitting down to watch this sort of movie, but Easy A isn't a bad option if I have to/want to.

Not really the biggest fan of comedies in general, actually.

No not at all, it's just that comedy doesn't tend to work so well as a feature length movie. Usually, no matter how funny the first 2/3 of a comedy movie might be, these movies tend to fall into the trap of becoming predictable, stale, too focused on plot machinations, too sentimental by the third act. Or the humor just loses it's edge before the movie is over. Some comedy movies still hold up for me, but I think I like movies in other genres - that happen to also be funny - a lot better. Like a drama with funny dialogue or an action movie with witty banter. I can name very few pure comedy movies that I would say that I think are good movies.

Love humor in other mediums - especially in the form of comic strips - so I'm not a humorless grinch.

Arguably the greatest most comedically profound piece of cinema of all time.

Nothing short of a masterpiece -me impersonating Mark Kermode

Sounds like a case of the Dunning Kroeger effect.
