Gothic/witchcraft-y horror blends with a western style endeavor and here we have this incredibly creepy and all around awesome movie with a good handful of lasting images, some downright terrifying
I can't say what I expected from this but I'm glad I watched it. I was gonna watch Come and See but the file I downloaded was an English dub that was genuinely painful to listen to and I didn't want anything to tarnish a movie of its stature so I decided to forgo and I had this as an alternative. And I must say it really stuck with me and might be a new favorite. The horror involved is 100% psychological and dealing with mental health and it's decline (pretty original concept huh), jokes aside it was really nice and strange in a strange (as in normal) way. The beginning is just a bit whack but set the tone perfectly. The movie creates an air of pure anxiety that is through the roof and genuinely had me freaking out at times. It is simultaneously super creepy/unsettling and emotionally gripping. I personally really enjoyed the performance of the lead actor, thought it was top notch, and the ending almost had me in tears. I love it. |

The story of the body double forced to work for Uday Hussein at the height of the Kuwait War, and his increasing attempts to free himself from the grasp of a madman. Recommended.

I just finished watching Akira Kurosawa's 7 Samurai. That's 3 hours and 10 minutes of brilliance! The only other Kurosawa movie I had seen was Ran, which is also great. I'll pretty much have to watch all his other movies now.
A bit bummed that it only exists in 4:3 format. I thought the last shot in the movie looked like it was supposed to be widescreen. I was wrong as it was apparently shot in 4:3. The reason that I mistrusted this DVD release of the film was that it had pretty bad subtitling. Way too many missing lines, at least a couple of them seemed important. Some newer releases with a lot of bonus material exists, so that's a good excuse to go for one of those. I'd love to see that 50 minute making of feature. I also watched Gravity again for the first time since I saw it in the movie theater. Pretty good, but it kind of loses a bit of it's magic on my tiny television screen (a crappy old CRT). |

I always avoid 3D movies. I don't think my eyes can even see them right.
I think it's an allright movie, but pretty corny on occasion. The action is my biggest gripe. Looks great, but things get so over the top that it isn't believeable at all that anyone would survive. I'd love it if someone made a more realistic version of the same idea. |

Just watched Mulholland Drive. *spoilers?* First Lynch movie. Was pretty damn high. Don't really know what happened but it was fun and I'd love to rewatch it to figure out what all was going on. But I got through the movie by concentrating on the fact that the blonde bitch was ****ing crazy. Even if a scene didn't make sense if you looked at it through the lense of "Hey yo that blonde bitch is an emotional vampire, dude," something about something made sense.
Lo and behold the blonde bitch was ****ing crazy. Felt vindicated.
