The story of the body double forced to work for Uday Hussein at the height of the Kuwait War, and his increasing attempts to free himself from the grasp of a madman. Recommended.

I just finished watching Akira Kurosawa's 7 Samurai. That's 3 hours and 10 minutes of brilliance! The only other Kurosawa movie I had seen was Ran, which is also great. I'll pretty much have to watch all his other movies now.

A bit bummed that it only exists in 4:3 format. I thought the last shot in the movie looked like it was supposed to be widescreen. I was wrong as it was apparently shot in 4:3. The reason that I mistrusted this DVD release of the film was that it had pretty bad subtitling. Way too many missing lines, at least a couple of them seemed important. Some newer releases with a lot of bonus material exists, so that's a good excuse to go for one of those. I'd love to see that 50 minute making of feature.

I also watched Gravity again for the first time since I saw it in the movie theater. Pretty good, but it kind of loses a bit of it's magic on my tiny television screen (a crappy old CRT).

I'm glad I saw Gravity at the theater in 3D so I never have to watch it again.

I always avoid 3D movies. I don't think my eyes can even see them right.

I think it's an allright movie, but pretty corny on occasion. The action is my biggest gripe. Looks great, but things get so over the top that it isn't believeable at all that anyone would survive. I'd love it if someone made a more realistic version of the same idea.

Yep, in my opinion its basically a tech demo. The story and immersion just aren't there. How many near death moments can one person have in a day?

Just watched Mulholland Drive. *spoilers?* First Lynch movie. Was pretty damn high. Don't really know what happened but it was fun and I'd love to rewatch it to figure out what all was going on. But I got through the movie by concentrating on the fact that the blonde bitch was ****ing crazy. Even if a scene didn't make sense if you looked at it through the lense of "Hey yo that blonde bitch is an emotional vampire, dude," something about something made sense.

Lo and behold the blonde bitch was ****ing crazy. Felt vindicated.

I saw IT.

It... was okay. Honestly I don't understand the praise for Pennywise's actor's portrayal. 90% of his character was done in CGI. Granted, his brief conversations with his victims were creepy af (especially his first appearance) and his utilization of facial gestures were definitely worth noting but all in all... dude, most of your performance was done with a computer. And like the original and literally every other Stephen King movie adaptation IT dragged on a little too long and the occasional lulls that panned out character backgrounds were largely dull. Honestly, I thought the child actors were better. I'm not dissing Bill Skarsgård's acting abilities,I haven't seen him (or any of his family's) performances in other works of cinema... but really, hand the praise to the kids. I'm sure they had a riot being able to use profanity so vigorously on camera.

Took my friends to see Baby Driver for a second time the other night. So good. I have so much respect for Edgar Wright.

The Worlds End > Shaun Of The Dead > Baby Driver > Hot Fuzz > Scott Pilgrim
