Brutal, brutal movie. Makes Hostel seem like Mary Poppins. If you dig torture porn, you owe it to yourself to check this out. I'd imagine the theatrical release had to be watered down so be sure to get the director's cut.
on It.

Crush the Skull

All of the irony and slapstick humour of Tucker & Dale vs. Evil with none of the charm or wit. 2/10

With a cover like that, I'm not too surprised

I'm gonna rec a movie/OVA to every member (that I can think of):

Occulthawk - GoShogun: The Time Etranger - A weird ass animated movie from the 80s about a team of ass kickers who saved the world in their youth, only to eventually grow old. Now in their seventies, and retired from world saving, they come together one final time after one of them is critically injured and hospitalized. While the team tries to give her support, the injured member goes into a weird dream-coma and fights muslim zombies (antagonists that act as a metaphor for submitting to fate and accepting that she will die).

Chula Vista - Finishing the Game - A comedy about the fallout of Bruce Lee's death, wherein a movie studio picks up the pieces of his unfinished final project The Game of Death and hurriedly tries to complete it with a lookalike so they can cash in on it. Featuring evil nazi ninjas, Ron Jeremy, and more. Really bizarre and hilarious, and probably way better if watched while high.

Grindy - The Hidden Blade - A samurai drama that you have probably already seen, but I'll rec it anyway. Maybe not the best samurai movie ever made, but I really like it.

Mondo Bungle - Galaxy Express 999 - An animated movie about an orphan who will do anything to get a ticket for an intergalactic train ride that supposedly leads to roboticized immortality. I feel like you would appreciate a lot of Leiji Matsumoto's stories (especially Queen Emeraldas, if you're ever in the mood to read a manga).

Mrs. Tristan Rosenstock - True Stories - David Byrne drives around a small town in Texas, talking to the locals and being a weirdo. I'm not certain if the movie is supposed to be for or against consumerism, but I think it's mainly just David Byrne's way of giving the world a big hug despite how flawed the world is. Oh, and John Goodman is in it.

djchameleon - Sol Bianca - Basically Bubblegum Crisis, except the badass gals in power suits are pirates instead of mercenaries.

Psy Fi - Lily C.A.T. - An anime ripoff of Alien and John Carpenter's The Thing. Fuck yeah. I don't know why, but I feel like you'd really get a kick out of this. Queue up the english dubbed version if you want some extra cheese.

Chiomara - Warlock - A horror comedy about an evil warlock that travels forward in time from colonial days to the late 80s/early 90s. Hilarious, awesome, and honestly not nearly as bad as you would expect from the description. Definitely one of the better 80s/90s cheesy horror movies out there, even though it never gets any love.

elphenor - Marie Antoinette - Sort of a scathing critique of high society, but also somewhat sympathetic to people who are forced into power. Featuring a badass post punk soundtrack (the movie literally starts with Marie lounging about eating cake and shit while a Gang of Four song plays).

Mindfulness - The Room - I think you and the main character were separated at birth.

Micshazam - Maris the Chojo - An animated movie from the 80s about a space travelling bounty hunter gal who is so strong that she needs to wear a special harness to keep her from accidentally smashing everything in sight. Because of her immense strength and penchant for accidents, she is broke as hell, but she's determined to become rich before she dies. In a beat up second hand ship (the only one her boss would give her after she destroyed all of her old ships) she goes up against an evil kidnapper who is set up in a cheap-ass base that is actively falling apart around him. Made by the creator of Ranma 1/2.

Qwertyy - Return of the Killer Tomatoes -

Neapolitan - Rumble in the Bronx - I'm actually not sure what kind of movies you like, so here, have a Jackie Chan flick.

Mord - Angel's Egg - You live in Japan, right? Here, have some more Japan.

Frownland - Talking Head - A live action movie made by the guy that masterminded Neon Genesis Evangelion and the original anime adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. It's about... uh, something. You'll see.

Trollheart - Office Space - YOU WOULD LOVE IT.

The Batlord - City Hunter: Million Dollar Conspiracy - A super perverted crime fighter does super perverted things while fighting crime, complete with a cheesy english dub.

Goofle and Justthefacts - Angel Cop - FUCK YEAH ANGEL COP. A sexy 80s babe and her cocky partner blow the heads off of evil commie scum. That's literally the entirety of the plot right there. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? ANGEL COOOOOOOP!

Man Like Monkey - The Beatles Yellow Submarine - Not just because you're british, but because it is a legit fantastic movie with awesome music sequences. I don't know if you've seen it or not, but if you haven't, pop it in, light up, and never look back.

In what can only be described as a rather stunning coincidence, I just threw out my old VHS tape of that very anime a few days ago (plus a few others). It wasn't that they were bad anime, just that I don't have a VHS player anymore and I have most of those on DVD now anyway. The good stuff, that is. Never seen the Rumik World short anime's on DVD though. I also had one named Fire Tripper and one named Laughing Target.

I used to like the one you recommended back in the day. I remember being thoroughly amused at the scene where it is revealed that the imposing looking general on her screen is about the size of a fist. I watched so much silly stuff like that back in the day.
Pretty nostalgic about Rumik world OVA's, since they played a part in getting me into anime. The biggest nostalgia trip for me was watching Gunbuster again on DVD. Not all that great a show, but I can't help but liking it a little since it was my very first anime.

PS: My copy of Maris the Chojo was named Maris the Wonder Girl.

SO lazy. Try harder.

Here, have one on me:
"The Cold Equations": They made a Twilight Zone episode about this, but the movie is so much better. A girl sneaks onboard a spaceship delivering medicals supplies to a planet desperately in need. Trouble is, the calculations have been made to the millimetre and milligram to enable the ship to land safely. Now there's a variable in the mix. What will happen? The answer will surprise you.

Damn man, now I have an image of a Maris the Chojo tape sitting in a dumpster.

Btw, I heard that it was supposed to be released internationally as Maris the Supergal, but the distributors didn't want to get sued by DC Comics.

I'll watch it if you watch Office Space.

Spoiler for spoilers for a nearly forty year old movie:

Imo, that's like one of the best moments from an anime movie.
