stunning film.
I watched these two movies last night, both of which are connected by pill popping and Suicide songs as part of their soundtrack. Antibirth While this had some interesting portrayals of middle America, this one kind of sucked. It was like a Spring Breakers (which I enjoyed), except set in a rundown trailer in the boonies and the movie falls flat on its face with some really stupid plot decisions as an attempt to be horrific. At first I enjoyed the House of 1000 Corpses meets It Follows had sex with Gummo vibe, but it wasn't enough to carry the film. You're probably better off avoiding this one. 3.5/10 The Place Beyond the Pines Even though this movie was trying to cash in on the success of Drive and wrote in high speed robbery chases but with a motorcycle instead of a car and ambiguous tattoos instead of ambiguous jackets into a script that made up a lot of the rest of the movie, I still loved it. The camerawork in particular made a lot of the scenes spchincter clenchingly intense. The ending fizzled out a bit in the end but it's very powerful. Very great film and highly recommended. 9/10

The movie was my favorite as a kid. When I saw they had it on Amazon prime I had to play it for my little brother. It was such a wonderful rush of nostalgia sharing my childhood with my brother.

I'm such a huge fan of the first one though and that's probably why I'm overreacting. I was so excited for this and had such high expectations and I felt let down in literally every aspect of the film except that it was pretty funny and they did a great job animating Rocket. |
