Since I'm a student teacher I don't get a say yet in what texts we get to teach... but luckily there are always really great ones on the curriculum! This year I did The Shawshank Redemption.

Cool...When I get my masters and can teach at Uni I can pretty much do what I want then...I have 2 more years of school to finish that...I have taken quite a break I am not sure if I am ready to dive back in but I feel it is now or never...Did they read the novella too? They are really pretty close.

Awesome! Good luck to you :) Nah we didn't do the novella as well. It was a media class so just film.

Serenity - Joss Whedon (2005)

I honestly can't think of a more entertaining and intelligent sci-fi flick, apart from Matrix. - 9/10

I loved Firefly and was very concerned that this film was going to be a let down. It was great that it was made as Firefly finished so abruptly but had it been poor it would have eally tarnished a fantastic series in my opinion. Luckily though the transition to the big screen didnt result in it losing what made the series so good. Great film.

I actually only saw a few snippets of the show before I saw Serenity a few years ago and didn't like it (a mix of western and sci/fi? What?) but I liked Serenity so much that I eventually gave it another go a few months ago and ended up loving it. But the film just takes it all to a new level.

I hope you watched the TV series. If not, do that. You won't be disappointed.

This movie was better than I ever thought it would be.

I think I made it clear I did, and loved it. *unsure*
