A bit formulaic like all of his film but a good watch all the same. What accent was that I wonder. I wouldn't have understood half of it if it weren't for the subtitles...lol. 7/10

It's called English FFS. and considering it was made in 1969 it is anything BUT formulaic. In truth the accent is from yorkshire which is North.

The Spirit-
horrible
I disliked Frank Miller before this, but wow, he still managed to underwhelm.

The acting is awkward, the script wouldn't be acceptable by comic standards, and the pacing and storytelling (what little there is) is all over the place.

Miller tries so hard to be stylish and to keep a comic aesthetic that its hard to take what your watching seriously.

Its like Micheal Bay tried to make Sin City.

Hopefully he saved most of his effort for the watchmen..

You should read the book. It's a classic.

A Kestrel for a Knave by Barry Hines.

I dunno, I've already sort of experienced the story and I don't really like to rehash things. :/

Bridge to Terabithia - ***

I'm forced to watch kids movies all the time, and it's a fact that 95% of all of today's kids films suck, the other 5 being mostly Pixar. But this one is a real winner.

I had no real expectations from this movie because the trailer made it out to be another Narnia clone, this turned out not to be true. It's not a fantasy film at all really, it's a film about two kids who like to role play and have imagined their own world, I really enjoyed it, the two stars of the film, Josh Hutcherson and AnnaSophia Robb, are really likable and appealing, this is by far one of the more touching and smart kids films I've seen in a while, it seems to realise that appealing to "mature" audiences as well as kids dosen't mean fart jokes, sexual innuendo and random pop culture references, but dealing with real life issues, and it does so without taking the easy way out at the end.

The marketing for this film was very deceptive, again, it's not a fantasy film, it's just a film about kids and their imaginations, while still coping with reality, and theres a really tragic twist near the end, but if you have kids, preferably in the 8-13 range, I recommend this, just as long as you don't mind them watching a movie that will almost certainly make them cry.

For an industry now flooded with godawful crap marketed towards children, this is one of the few gems of actual substance to come out in recent years, that unfortunately didn't get very much attention. Which further proves Hollywood's theory that kids only want talking animals, crude sight gags and over reliance on special effects.
