I think I need to watch that movie then. I really don't need motives if it's just basically a home invasion movie.

Just like The Strangers, they didn't really need a motive. "She was just home"

Makes it much more interesting though.

Ouija is Flannagan's best pic so far. I think he's going to be one of the big game directors for this time period.

You just answered your own question. What kind of dude goes around stalking humans with a crossbow? And did you note how many times he plunged his knife into the neighbor's gut? He kept going even after she was dead. And there's the part where he props up her corpse to knock on the woman's window. Dude was a flat out psychopath.

That's such a boring explanation though. It's like having the movie turn out to be a dream the whole time because the writers didn't know how to tie up the loose ends. He was a comparatively flat character. A little more insight to his in general (what made him crazy, is this his first spree, does he not see this as crazy, etc.), not exclusively his motive, would make the movie a lot better.

Ya, because evil always has an explanation behind it.

"Why is that guy acting so crazy?"
"Because he's crazy!"

Could've been a lot stronger in that aspect is all I'm saying. You don't think it would have made that character and the overall film more interesting?

The opposite actually. Why did Jeffery Dahmer eat people? Why did Ted Bundy screw the corpses of the women he killed? Why did John Wayne Gacy strangle all of those boys?

Some people just get taken over by their evil id.

Flat characters are just not my thing. I'm glad it works for you though. "He's just crazy!" is really the only thing we know about him and that just doesn't cut it for me.

Can we not throw the "e" word around in adult discussions?
