I'm a pretty big Lynch fan but that's one of the few movies of his I haven't seen. From what I've heard though it's not all that great, have I heard wrong?

It's difficult, but it's pretty fecking great. It's more disorienting and dreamlike than any of his films.

The Departed is a remake of the Hong Kong film Internal Affairs. Scorsese paid a great homage to it and even lifted some scenes almost note for note from it.
