I love American Beauty too. The quality of the filmmaking is just so superb on every level and the movie feels so creative and adventurous whilst managing to remain grounded and relatable. Love the moment when Caroline is silently screaming after failing to sell the house. The perfect encapsulation of the dark side of many American attitudes about success.

Just discovered the inspiring and heartwarming animated Blank on Blank shorts PBS produced featuring intimate, candid interviews with characters like Bowie, Elliott Smith, Cobain, Bradbury, Hunter S Thompson, Joplin, Robin Williams, Rod Serling, Carl Sagan, and many others.

Been tuned in to the channel all evening.

The hateful eight...I don't usually watch Westerns, but I liked this one very much!

The Killing (1956)

Classic film noir written and directed by Stanley Kubrick. One of the best of the genre.

Watched Whiplash. I actually liked it.. not something id call a realistic film... but one that was worth it to see as just a study.

Especially that car crash that's really never explained.

I wasn't aware that car crashes needed explanations. Aren't the something that by their very nature happens unexpectedly?

The outcome I mean is unresolved, at least not onscreen.

Yeah.. I think the car crash scene was supposed to kinda tie in with the fake story Fletcher told the class about how his former student died.

You mean what happened to the other person? I guess you'd expect cops to come after him, since he basically hit and ran (On foot iirc. I forget. Whatever.)

Is that what you're talking about?
