Well, Koyaanisqatsi was bordering on brilliant. I loved the hidden, debatable imagery.

If I have to watch a Sandler film, I'm going with Punch-Drunk Love. Didn't love it as much as most but I mean you can't go wrong with a PTA film.

With the right role he could be a poor man's Jack Black (I'm thinking Bernie and not Nacho Libre). He definitely worked as an immature man-child in Click, though.

On the commentary track to Serenity, I remember Joss Whedon saying something to the effect that comedians can make for good dramatic actors, since comedic timing is even harder to nail down than dramatic timing. Granted, Joss Whedon is a glorified B-movie director, so grain of salt and all that, but he's not entirely wrong.

Sandler was actually good in a dramatic role once: Punch Drunk Love.

Yeah Sandler can handle dramatic roles well. There was a 9/11 related film that I recall him pretty damn good in.

Edit: It was Reign Over Me.

I think I've only ever seen about two minutes of that movie, but I always assumed it was like the first "ADAM SANDLER" Adam Sandler movie ever, and was just the prototype for all of his subsequent movies, while being immune from many of the more cringe-worthy Sandler tropes. But it was a different animal altogether?

The Cobbler is another fantastic Sandler film if people are interested. His role in that was dramatic and very well done.
