It was alright. Some scenes were really good, the type of humor I enjoy from these Rogen/Goldberg comedies but some of it fell flat. If I had to rate it, 6.5/10

Great Expectations
Fantastic BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens' timeless novel. Seen a few versions over the years but this is the best yet. It's this version and is available on Netflix I believe. |

Hadn't watched this one in ages. Maybe Hoffman's best performance and Meryl Streep was truly at her peak back then. They both very deservedly won Oscars for the flick. Add best picture, best director, and best adapted screenplay to the mix and you pretty much had a clean sweep.
If you watch this and can get through the last act without having tears running down your face you ain't got a heart. You younger folk will probably find it kinda slow in parts but the acting from all involved (even the kid is pretty mindblowing) should more than make up for it.

And now The Deer Hunter is on. TCM is doing 31 days of Oscar winners, all commercial free (and uncensored).
I'm gonna be a freaking emotional wreck by the time this night is over.

We're snowed in for Valentines Day, so I've stocked up on munchies and we're gearing up for a romantic movie marathon of viral outbreak post-apocalyptic horror flicks.
Just took in the box office bomb, Doomsday, (god it was terrible!), and next up is John Carpenter's awesome apocalypse trilogy.

Well, this film buff has seen his first full Costner movie (if not Silverado, which I may have seen but don't remember watching at all). Weirdly, I didn't know he was in it. Also my first Russell Crowe movie. Man of Steel.
The cinematography kind of toned down the action sequences that were mostly driven by more special effects than any movie I can think of. Despite that, it has a good story by Nolan, some good camera moments, and a well-picked cast. Sure, Lois isn't supposed to be blonde. But she was a great pic for the role. I had fun. Overall, 75/100. Pretty good movie.
