Beasts of No Nation Bloody fantastic. Except for maybe Leo's performance (maybe), this was hands down better than The Revenant. The first act that shows manipulative leader bring the protagonist out of boyhood and turn him into a warrior was amazingly executed. An easy 5/5.

Beasts of No Nation is a film that I've been meaning to watch but the plot doesn't interest me all that much. From what I've heard it's great though, and I'll have to get around to seeing it sooner than later.

Two monumental films today:
The first was the 16-minute animated short film Lucky Day Forever, a dystopian Matrix-meets-Brazil-meets-They Live with a dash of Neo-Tokyo. It's won a flood of awards since its release but I've only just now seen it for the first time. And tonight I'm finishing James Cameron's 1995 box office bomb, Strange Days. A financial failure but a criminally underrated dystopian sci fi flick.

It was only partially written by James Cameron, it was directed by Kathryn Bigelow. I haven't seen it since it was in theaters but I remember thinking that it was almost really good but fell a little short. I know it's become a bit of a cult classic since then though.

Has anyone seen this lately? Is it just me or does it feel sort of dated, and not in the best of ways? Acting's a bit stiff in certain parts, a little too much Shakey cam, sort of feels like I'm watching a lifetime movie during a few dialogue scenes. Best picture should've gone to Inglorious Basterds. That being said, it's fantastic. And Kathryn Bigelow went on to make one of the best films of this century after.

Re-watched Bridesmaids tonight. Such a funny and ultimately charming little movie. The wedding dress shop scene is gut splittingly funny.

Very Abstract, multiple plot point, mildly difficult to follow, interesting connections, great acting and beautiful visuals. Everything from Comedy, to action, to philosophy. 9/10 |

Just finished watching Everest which is based on the 1996 disastrous climb. A little slow in the beginning and they pour the melodrama on a little too thick at times but all in all a crazy and gut wrenching flick. Amazing cinematography too.
