Just watched Grizzly Man and Dog Day Afternoon.
Treadwell was an interesting guy, but he wasn't very smart. Anyone who lives around bears knows that it can be deadly to habituate them to humans. He did more harm than good, probably, and died because of his actions. Still sad, but not unsurprising. Herzog did a good job with the film, though. I thought it captured the character rather well, and presented all of the sides of him. Some of the interviews with people felt a bit rehearsed, but whatever. In Dog Day Afternoon, Sidney Lumet made another great ****ing movie. Network is brilliant, obviously, but this is almost as good. It's tense and gritty, but I actually found some parts rather humorous in a dark way. It's got some interesting political ideas as well. Good movie. |

He knew he was dying during the filming of that, but kept going.

I saw Creed. It was a pretty good movie. I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

Saw the Revenant last night, or as the annoying manager kept calling it "the Reverent" I sort of dropped of the DiCaprio hype train for best actor at the oscars. He was good but not great. I think he has done better roles. Tom Hardy was awesome though. Overall I would probably give it an 8 due to its atmosphere and sheer brutality. It was constructed and presented very well.

Black Death
Watched it over Christmas. Excellent film. Very gritty. Very human and thought provoking. A movie that attempts, successfully I feel, to say something about the human condition. |
