Jackie Brown is one of Tarantino's best.

Hateful Eight was definitley his weakest film since Death Proof, though. I enjoyed it a lot, but there were a lot of obvious flaws. I thought that the first half was a little weak and uninspired, and some of the dialogue felt like someone trying to write dialogue like QT rather than dialogue actually by him, but it picked up in the second half once moods started dieing imo. The cinematography was nice, and it kept me riveted over its lengthy run time. One thing that in particular felt off was the editing. There are points when the edit is actually exceptionally bad and amateur and lazy in a totally bad way. It seems like this film is really hurting for want of Tarantino's old editor Sally Menke, RIP.

Still, though, this film draws inspiration from a lot of my favourite spaghettis (especially Cut Throats Nine and The Great Silence) and other films that I love (The Thing) and it does it in a way that, in my opinion goes over really well. It's a movie that I liked, and one I look forward to seeing in theatres.

Yeah, Chivo did a great job shooting it. Almost guarenteed himself the third oscar in a row as far as I'm concerned. Film film I've seen on Arri's Alexa 65, and I'm now totally oogling the hell out of that camera. I love the look of celluloid film, but this is not only among the greatest achievements of digital cinema, it is one of the few films that could not have been shot any other way. I'm not sure that some of the complex camera moves here could have been pulled off any other way. Plus, the cold, sharp, clinical look of video really lends itself to the tone of the film.

Great movie all around. Probably my favourite that I've seen in 2015.

Are those cigarette vending machines? I haven't seen those since I was a kid. What's happened to the world?

Harakiri and Sucker Punch were the last 2. I really enjoyed both despite they are too different from each other!
