My favorite part is where Shaggy turns to the girl on the plane and says, "Mary Jane? That's like, MY FAVORITE NAME!" Didn't really get it as a kid, but now seeing the stoner parody intentions of the film, this line is quite hilarious, as well as Shaggy and Scooby living in the van cooking burgers.

Watched Under the Skin with Scarlett Johansson. Strange movie. Didn't much like it.

I recently saw this film and it was great. it has a few flaws but it makes up for it by having a sureal aproach to the whole thing, it's a very layered film, on one hand it feels like a satire of a super hero film that questions the artistic integrity of those kinda films, and on the other hand its also just an interesting story about and outdated actor battling his inner demons while trying to remain in the spotlight.

What made this movie good was that those 2 concepts were merged perfectly through a sureal view and a great performance by the actors. i especially like Edward Norton's performance. he basically played Tyler Durden but with a different spin.

Anyone seen Crimson Peak?
Everybody seems to agree it's visually stunning, but many complain about lame characters and story. If that's really the case, I'm not sure visual style alone is going to make me enjoy it.

An epic romance in 16th-century India set against the backdrop of Muslim and Hindu tension and violence. Very long movie. But I enjoyed it.

Cowspiracy

The info in this movie about livestock's effect on the environment that the director thinks is incredibly obscure seems to be pretty solid apart from some exaggeration or selective blindness of updates in a few of the stats. I couldn't stand the movie because of the super alarmist and preachy tone that the movie was built on. I think that the conspiracy element of the movie was introduced to make it sell more, since saying "cows are bad for the environment" wouldn't pull in as big of an audience...maybe. Also, the director really sucks at interviewing people imo, too much of a "gotcha journalist". I would have turned it off early, but it wasn't my selection. I wonder if the oil industry had a role in this film, since about 60% of it is downplaying fossil fuel's impact on the environment.

We are working our way through the Metanoia-Films archive. We began with Plutocracy and Human | Resources and tonight we watched Psywar.

Definitely adding Chomsky to my reading list.

I hereby propose the mods enforce a week-long policy of not allowing any reviews or discussions for the new Star Wars to be posted outside of spoiler tags, whether or not it includes any spoilers. I don't so much as want to know if you even liked it.

No. If you want we can enforce a no spoiler policy, where we simply remove all spoiler tags (but not the content). Would that be a good enough compromise?
