I saw Brick a couple days ago. I liked it a fair amount. There might have been a bunch going on thematically that I couldn't figure out, or there might have been nothing - I sort of hope it's the former. I watched it with my mom and she liked it, but she thought it was a lot darker than I did - for me, it was basically a comedy because of how transparently absurd the whole movie was, and unlike, say, Coen brothers movies, where there's absurdity but there's maybe bigger, deeper stuff going on, I didn't really see that here (hence the second sentence). But I thought it was a good, really well-shot movie, and I liked the score a lot. The ending was pretty predictable though.

Kung Fury I've been wanting to find this online to watch it, and surprisingly it showed up on Netflix this morning. Quite possibly one of the best short films i've seen in a while. If you have 30 minutes to kill, watch it. It's worth it. |

Just saw a commercial for a US remake of The Secret inTheir Eyes. ****ing arrogance. The original is brilliant and perfect. Why **** with it?

It won the Oscar that year for best foreign language film, deservedly so. Equal parts unfounded love story and murder mystery spanning a quarter of a century. The ending is going to kick you in the head.
HARD.

Inherent Vice (2014) The style of the movie is right up my alley, but I found it too long and needlessly confusing. It was still an enjoyable experience though. Listening (2015) A sci-fi about mind reading. An interesting concept but the acting was sub-par and there were too many holes.
