This documentary of the South Bronx street gangs that the classic film The Warriors are based on. Really it's a historical look at the decay that gave rise to the 70s street gangs and later to hip hop. Pretty great film stylistically and mentally stimulating but unfortunately the main subject of film becomes the gang/band/political activist group Ghetto Brothers, and it becomes sort of a tearjerky civil rights story. But overall thoroughly entertaining and draws a timeline that connects weirdo gang culture to original hip hop.

It's a very abstract and minimal interpretation of Clarke's story. Read the book and the movie will come completely into focus.

Really liked this one. Low key, interesting, well made thriller. Seeing it made me realize how rare such movies are. It is twisty, but still relatively realistic and the plot isn't advanced by characters acting like idiots, tired cliches and overdone action.

Is that the newer one? Different films, same name.

Yes. I wanted to see it but my cousin thought it'd be a waste of money. I told her it's like super high on the tomato meter, still didn't budge though.

Caught this by accident last night on TMC. Take early 60s French cinema and mix it with Mel Brooks, Monty Python, Benny Hill, The Three Stooges, and Andy Warhol.
I dare anyone to watch this on acid. Zazie dans le métro (Zazie in the Subway)*(1960) - Rotten Tomatoes
