I just re-watched this gem:

Watched Sweet Smell Of Success last week for class. One of the best films of that era. Impressive cinematography and the performances are a real highlight too. Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis both playing against type in a movie loaded with complex and interesting characters. Along with Otto Preminger's Laura from a few weeks ago, two films that aren't just 'the best of what I have seen in class' they are just 'the best'.

Got a copy of the 1997 director's cut DVD for this fantastic film. Watched the original film many years ago and it instantly became one of my top 10 favorite submarine films of all-time, and also became one of my top 10 all-time favorite war films. The director's cut adds 60 minutes to the original film and makes it even more compelling.

^Classic. How does one have a top 10 Submarine Films list? Seems niche. What are your other nine, if you don't mind me asking?
