The Master Recently, I've been catching up on some P.T. Anderson movies that I hadn't seen. Last weekend I watched There Will Be Blood, today I watched The Master. I think I had roughly the same reaction to this one as I had to TWBB which is that I thought it was a good movie but it never really hooked me on an emotional level and I never had that experience of getting lost in the movie. That's said, also like TWBB, it was beautifully made movie with some incredible performances and a very interesting premise. |

So I finally got to watching the latest X-Men and boy, am I disappointed. After a successful reboot, we get what, iron man 2 level movie ? Come on! I was hoping for the ultimate x men movie, what I got is a movie that was ... boring. Not emotionally engulfing. Many people told me it's great, better than all other x men movies etc (not that hard to achieve if you ask some ;P), maybe it's the hype .. but as an x men fan (that in the mean time grew up and realized just how awful and stupid the series was at times, but still enjoys it for the sake of nostalgia), I am sad.
Anyone else felt this way ? |

Gone Girl
Everything said above by Exo is true, not sure if I'd give it a 5/5, though. It was very good for its genre. Rosamund Pike was great, Affleck did his thing. Fincher, Reznor, and Atticus Ross make a great team, the cinematography and soundtrack meshed together very well. The pacing was stressfully quick, which works well for this kind of a movie, and with the film clocking in at 2 and a half hours you're emotionally drained by the end of it. The 4 of us who went just dropped our face to our hands as soon as the credits rolled, exhausted. |

Terror at the mall
An Hbo documentary about the terrorist attack on the westgate mall in Kenya. I missed the first half hour of it im waiting for HBO to play it again so i could watch it from the beginning but it was really good and very emotional, hearing the survivors explain what they were going through as the doc shows the footage from the security cameras really involves you in the scene.

I dug it. I kinda knew where it was heading right off the bat but was happy that it ended the way it did because good lord Spoiler for very mild spoilers:
Spoiler for other spoils not so mild but not super spoils or nothin:
Definitely will pick up the comic because everything I've read by Neil Gaiman's been awesome.
