gonna jump on this band wagon....Cabin in the Woods is brilliant
|
I've always thought Joss Whedon's popularity funny. Everything he does in someone else's hands would be awful. The kind of thing that gets put on the CW. Without his instinctual understanding and love of his characters, their dialogue would just be campy and cringe-inducing. Without his mastery of geek culture and his ability to seamlessly combine it with soap opera goofiness, all while somehow turning this Frankenstein-style storytelling into compelling drama... well you wouldn't have anything cause any show that tried would have died a quick and merciful death. And any show or movie that's successfully pulled this off is to some extent ripping him off. I can also name any number of these shows that involve old members of his production company.
And speaking of the Joss, I also hear he was the writer for one of the most acclaimed X-Men comic series of all time. I even saw his run mentioned as one of the greatest comics of all time in general in one list. He's a ****ing Renaissance geek. How is this man so talented? |
Indeed...Cabin in the Woods is well worth the watch. Do not be fooled or sway by contrary opinions stating otherwise.
Watch it all this time. |

Les Triplets de Beleville I loved every minute of this film. Imagine a nihilistic Pixar film with French animation and you have this film. I highly recommend this to everyone. |
That's funny. I just rewatched Bellville last night. Such a great/strange film.

i love that movie :)
|
Not only is that a great movie but it has a great soundtrack. I remember the first time I watched it, when it ended I immediately hopped online and ordered the soundtrack I loved it so much.

I tried watching Cabin In The Woods again, and I couldn't stomach it so I turned it off. If it's really worth watching the whole thing to get to the end, it better be a damn good ending. And yes, I have gotten to the part where people start dying, but beyond that it's just not enough to keep me watching.

It's so bad that I can't even tell if it's really supposed to be satire or if most of its screenplay was written by Tommy Wiseau, then gussied up by some shitty first-year indie film writer who thinks they're ~so edgy~ 2/10, shit film, wouldn't even enjoy it if I was drunk in fact, this scene from Kentucky Fried Movie has more satirical depth and value than the whole of Cabin in the Woods, which should be re-named to Does a Bear Shit in the Woods? Discuss, and Skip This Movie. |
