Movie 43

Before seeing the movie, I was interested to see what most websites had rated this at. It was rated very poorly for "unnecessary amounts of crude humor" but honestly...I thought it was hilarious and clever at some points. It had a large range of actors that I really like and seeing McLovin in a movie again was awesome. It's perfect for a relaxing night. If you want a good laugh, I'd definitely recommend it.

This Is The End

Saw this at red box and I figured I'd get it since the popular opinion is that its the funniest movie of the year. Um...really? I didn't even get halfway through this movie before turning it off. Its basically what would happen if The Hangover and Pineapple Express had an ugly deformed baby. I'm sorry, but the typical Seth Organ, Jonah Hill formula is getting old. I didn't mind it much in Knocked Up but I was honestly expecting something really really funny. This movie was easily the most disappointng of the year. Not worth the hype.

Also, keep in mind that I cannot stand The Hangover movies

What about This is the End has anything to do with The Hangover series? Also, Jonah Hill played a completely different version of what he normally plays. I truly believe comedy is subjective and don't fault people for not liking a movie but your reasons don't make any sense.

When The Hangover was released, everybody was talking about how funny it was and that I should see it. When I finally caved and saw it, it wasn't funny at all. Same with This Is The End.

Not to mention he didn't even watch half of it. That means he missed some of the best parts.
Rogan and Goldberg have mentioned that about half of the film is ad-libbed and one of the actors (Baruchel I think) mentioned that a lot of real-life personal stuff came out in the on-screen conversations.
I think the film is hilarious and full of subtle comedy and wit despite (and because of) the over-the-top scenario. The conversation about whether actors are good or bad people is one of the best things I've seen in a comedy film. To me the ending is a bit lame but I guess they needed to conclude the film somehow. Overall I think that the film proves that the major players understand comedy deeply and I'm glad that a film like this is successful.

Inform me. I got to the part where they were arguing about jacking off into the porn mag, and at that point, the movie just got stale for me. Admittedly there were some funny parts, but at the same time, it really was not as funny as I was hoping it'd be.

Even if I thought you might agree with me (which I don't because I loved the first parts of the film), I don't think I can adequately describe everything that happens in the second half and explain why I think it's funny in a post.

I will say that I think the film gets funnier up to the ending. The scenario gets more desperate, more personal conversations are had, and even more ridiculousness ensues. If you don't like it, you don't like it but I highly recommend watching the entire film to people who like the Rogan/Goldberg stuff. I've never seen The Hangover so I can't comment on that comparison.

Perhaps, though I have a list of movies that I'll be watching and this one just happened to be on it. If I ever get to the point that I feel like I want to watch it again, i'll do that.

Well I started my 31 nights of horror leading up to Halloween so every night I'm checking out a different horror movie.

John Dies at The End

Maybe because I don't know the book or is it a graphic novel this movie is based on? But anyways this movie was just randomness that just ends up making sense some how and I loved every minute of it. Usually I hate shows/movies that are just being random for the sake of it but they were able to get away with it and I didn't judge them for it.

The Hamiltons

I love movies like this. It reminded me of that movie where the twins end up taking a family hostage and torturing them and also Strangers where they just end up terrorizing people for no reason. This movie ends up being different though because by the end of the movie you find out why they always move towns and kidnap people. I hear there is a sequel that came out last year called The Thompsons. I might look for it.
