And no, it's not as stupid as Prometheus. Now that was a silly movie.

I would have given it a 5/10 honestly. I was semi disappointed in it also. Prometheus was a monumental disappointment though. I went into that with much higher hopes judging from the previous films Alien/Aliens.

I finally got around to watching this after having it in my DVD collection since Christmas. I wouldn't call it the flawless masterpiece some make it out to be, but I enjoyed it a lot. Unlike plenty of other violent films it actually paces itself well and understands the value of just the occasional violent murder instead of filling the screen with gore at every opportunity. It's well-written, well-acted and well-directed and I'd certain call it a must-see.

While I can't be 100% sure as the site the image is located on doesn't allow hotlinking, I'm going to assume you're talking about Drive. I agree, the deliberate slow pacing of the movie after that intense opening scene did a really nice job of creating juxtaposition so when people's heads are getting blown off or stomped in, it really stays with you.

I've yet to see it, though I've been meaning to, in response to Pandorum. I heard it was pretty good from a list of sources, so I'm still anticipating seeing it.

Hmm, I get that a lot. I'll fix it.

Side Effects

saw this on the suggestion of a friend who normally has great taste in film.....he failed in this one....it was just overall a boring and very predictable movie....acting was eh....but that mainly had to do with the somewhat ridiculous script.....i would not even suggest renting this one

Warm Bodies.

Ok, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, it had alot of hilarious moments that weren't all shown in the trailer. Rob Corddry as M was the best. Maybe if you don't see it at the theater, definitely check it out on DVD or cable or whatever.

My Mad Fat Diary
absolutely obsessed with this, it's funny and the most rfalistic portrayal of being a teenage girl I've ever seen, plus the Britpop soundtrack is amazing.

The Dark House (2009) / Dom Z
(Trailer with English subtitles)
I saw this yesterday on Polish tv. I'm still in shock, in a way.
It's been a while since I saw anything so .. bleak, depressing, hopeless and at the same time, strangely fascinating.
The movie consists of scenes from 2 different times intertwined - a night in autumn 1978 and a winter day in 1982. In both we have mr Sordon , but in 1978 he's a guest at the house and in 1982 he's under arrest and is taking the militia and a local prosecutor through what happened 4 years earlier. The story isn't that complicated, though the movie only answers some of the questions the viewers might have. The pace varies, but it's generally not a movie that rushes to the end.
Generally it's very dirty and depressing. People are dirty. Their souls are dirty.
There is no supernatural element here, despite what the trailer might suggest, it's just people.
Also, it's a fairly accurate picture of the times behind the iron curtain. The amount of vodka might seem a bit excessive, but believe me - I know people like this and similar situations could happen. The corruption, lack of morals etc - all is as authentic as can be.
What I would like to hear though, are opinions of non Poles that saw this. People that don't have the baggage of the context and would see this as a universal story of sorts. People that don't know what esperal is. Do you know ? If not, see this movie and tell me how big an impact it had on you!
