I think I remember there sometimes being a glitch like that here a couple years ago, but it's not something I've seen lately in this thread or out of it. I wonder if it's only s problem in certain browsers or something.

Of course, I'm gonna see it regardless, but the previews keep showing Galadhriel, who was not in The Hobbit, and it sort of looks like they're hinting at a romance between her and Gandalf. If that is indeed the case, I will be enraged. Not only did that never even slightly happen in any of the books, but she's ****ing married! I hope that that is not the case though.

Don't be prepared for an exact retelling of the hobbit. While the lord of the rings left things out, this movie adds things.

Oh good. And that was some dirty trolling. You know that I wasn't gonna not click on that, and yet you still made me scared that I was ruining something anyway. Assbag.

Bridesmaids (2011)

Eh, it had its moments and I must admit seeing gross-out female driven comedy is kind of interesting from an athropological perspective, but it was pretty predictable. I also kind of felt sorry for the family frustrated blonde and the redhead because they seriously had nothing to do after the airplane scene and the movie seemed like it was going to focus on all the bridesmaid's problems and not just Helen and whatshername, with Megan being the inspiration character to get her to stop feeling sorry for herself. Overall I was pretty lukewarm on it, but I think it's because I'm a guy and I just could not relate to anything going on, but it was still an interesting "glass bottom boat" experience, and seeing an all-female comedy is something of a rarity so it does have that going for it.

First time seeing it in a couple years and it's just as creepy and disturbing as I remember it being. The basic plotline in and of itself is so simple yet brilliant, and for the most part the execution is well done. The effects definitely contribute to the atmosphere as well.

Aguirre The Wrath of God

This is surprisingly the first time I've seen this film considering I'm a big Herzog fan. I just never got a chance to see it and I finally just bit the bullet and downloaded it. What a film. Gorgeous can't describe the Herzog's film making. It's more than that. The ending was amazing and Klaus Kinski is his always amazing self. This is going to be one of my classic go too films for a long time.

The Birdcage

Another film that has escaped me through the years. Hilarious comedy that I enjoyed throughout the whole thing which is rare for me when it comes to comedies. Hank Azaria stole the show for me. I found his character hilarious.

Just saw The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and it fully lived up to my expectiations. It's certainly lighter than LOTR and I think that's consistent with the source material. Lots of reviews have complained that it drags, but I couldn't think of a single scene that I would have cut. I eagerly await the next one in a year's time.

The Hobbit

well it was much better than i thought it would be....coup[le of minor changes and a ton of additional material.....but well done and the film for being as long as it is really only dragged a little

loved the Smaug tease at the end

does anybody know where he is getting the "necromancer" source material from?

Not sure if this even qualifies as a film, but they had a performance of Wagner's Das Rheingold on PBS last night that I actually really enjoyed. I've never actually watched or listened to an entire opera, don't listen to much classical, and I don't claim to appreciate all of what goes on in that kinda music, but yeah, pretty sweet. They had this ludicrous "thing" that they used as a set piece that was:
Quote:

a 45-ton machine that consists of a palisade of two dozen fiberglass-covered aluminum planks that tilt to form various stage configurations. At the opening they move forward and back to create an undulating effect evocative of the surface of the Rhine. In other scenes they serve as a screen onto which video projections add underwater bubbles and other motifs, some of them interactive, triggered by the performers’ movements. And throughout the opera, they swivel to form horizontal platforms or slanting ground planes.
Source.

When it worked it really gave a rather immersive feeling that I don't know would have been possible with a physical set. Of course, being an opera newb, I could be wrong. It also helped that I'm a fantasy nerd and was willing to use my imagination.
