It's about 20 years since I first read The Hobbit. Now, today, I'm just home from watching Peter Jackson's The Hobbit movie. I have to say I liked it, a lot I was hoping to experience some of that movie magic from when I first saw the LOTR trilogy in cinemas and for me, that happened again tonight. The movie is lighter in tone and more fantastic and glossy, but from what I remember from reading The Hobbit, it seems appropriate. The book had a much different tone compared to the Lord of the Rings trilogy which came later so it makes sense that the movie does too.
Before watching it, I read a review from someone who thought it was too drawn out, meticulous and boring. Normally when they make movies from books, people complain that the movies are not detailed enough. This time it seems some think too much of the book got in. I guess there's no pleasing some people. Either way, they must have horrible attention span if they thought it was boring, because I wasn't bored for a second and thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish, even if the non-stop action got a bit chaotic towards the end. Looking forward to the next one.

^^ Agreed
The movie had a much lighter and comedic tone, but was still action packed and beautiful all at once. The riddle scene with Gollum was priceless. I didn't want it to ever end.

I saw Dark Knight rises yesterday. I missed it when it came out and I was waiting for a good quality version and some good company to enjoy it with me. I had both.
And I'm far from impressed. For all the hype it got it was mediocre at best. Sure it was visually stunning at times, but 2012 was too and it didn't help the movie much :P Batman turned from a ninja like shadow friendly assassin, that terrorizes his foes and defeats them with gadgets into a brute with no finesse. I don't mind a good fist fight, but that's all he did in this movie. And as far as fist fights go, it wasn't impressive either. jab, jab, jab, jab. rinse and repeat. bleh. Christian bale is a good actor, I enjoyed many movies he was in. Here though .... when he's piloting his face looks like he forgot to take a dump before leaving home. I liked the story, I'm in love with Anne Hathaway and when I think of Joseph Gordon Levitt I no longer see that kid from the 3rd rock from the sun. Oh, and the flying whatever it was that batman was using was ok. That's about it when it comes to things I ejnoyed, the rest was "meh". 5/10 in my book. |

I'm worried about that movie. Of course, I'm gonna see it regardless, but the previews keep showing Galadhriel, who was not in The Hobbit, and it sort of looks like they're hinting at a romance between her and Gandalf. If that is indeed the case, I will be enraged. Not only did that never even slightly happen in any of the books, but she's ****ing married! I hope that that is not the case though.

It only happens when their are multiple posts on one page apparently, it was happening a second ago but went away
Basically, it'll say there are 1261 pages, but the last post shows up on 1260 and when you click on the 1261 number it redirects you to 1260. |
