Saw Dredd 3D. Was awesome. Bloody, didn't pretend to be a real movie, and the 3D was actually immersive rather than just a pointless add-on. Did what it needed to do and didn't try to add on any love interests, sub-plots, or "acting".

Recently I've watched:

I really liked this. At first, while watching, I thought what was all the hype over this movie? But as it progressed, the story evolved and truly became one of those inspirational movies you can't help but like. 7.8/10

I really loved this. The characters are so different from modern characters, but you quickly connect with them. And the snippets of amazing poetry throughout is refreshing. The ending is also particularly powerful. I loved this one. 8.5/10

As simple as this movie is, it has become, without a shadow of a doubt one of my all time favourites. I absolutely fell in love with Before Sunrise, and then this came along, and surpassed every expectation. Truly a wonderful, beautiful film. Everyone needs to see these two movies, they're just lovely. Julie Delpy also does a song in the end, and I can't help but have it on repeated listens. A rare, perfect movie this one. 9.5/10

Before Sunrise is wonderful, but Before Sunset didn't really do a whole lot for me.

was pretty good. some hot pig-human relations goin on

pretty good too. The concept is awesome, if the ending is just a little more fleshed out it could have been truly memorable.

The script may have been cliche and predictable but the acting and emotional scenes are what make this a fantastic movie. I love films that jump out of the box and try to be as ambitious as possible but some films are just so well made while being so unoriginal. This is one of them. It's also one of those movies that getting a great rating from myself isn't really on par with some essential cinema. It's just incredibly well done and a great watch. Nick Nolte almost made me cry and Tom Hardy is one intimidating bastard. Great film.

9/10

One of the greatest acting performances ever from Pacino and it's always a pleasure seeing John Cazale act. Sidney Lumet was a genius.

9/10

Looper
This one should be a treat for lovers of good old-fashioned sci-fi. It's got a very b-movie look and feel to it, but a very clever and polished narrative. Its first half reminds me a lot of Blade Runner, while the second half kind of diverges from this. I'll have to watch it again because it's a lot to take in, but I can feel good recommending it. 8/10

^^^

Looking forward to seeing this and bonus points as Emily Blunt is in it

From Paddy Considine (Dead Man's Shoes). Very good for a directorial debut but it's not exactly a barrel of laughs. The plot is hard to describe as the film is more about interaction and human emotion but that is not to say there isn't a plot. Suffice to say it's about broken people trying to reconnect with life. It's bleak but oddly rewarding and the performances from everyone are spectacular. If you are a dog lover this film may upset you but as the disclaimer states : no animals were harmed in the making of this film.

Powerful film. The scene involving "urine" was especially hard to watch.
