I just watched Control. I gotta say, it was pretty damn good. I couldn't have really hoped for more from a movie about Ian Curtis. If you are a Joy Division fan, I recommend it.

I watched Control before I read Touching From a Distance, which the film is based on, and the one complaint I had for it was they really seemed to tone down his assholishness for the film. I mean he was still kind of a prick to Deborah, but they made it out to be more sympathetic, like he was trying to do the right thing but his disorders prevented him from it. For all I know it could have been the reason, but the tone certainly is pretty jarring between the movie and the book.

i can honestly say there is no movie like Martyrs....i seriously think it is that good i'll add Inside to Jack's list....another disturbing french horror flick also any film by Russian director Andrey Iskanov....specifically Visions of Suffering and Nails (Gvozdi)....he also made a five hour film called Philosophy of a Knife which i cannot lie was a bit much for me.....be he blends artistic quality and disturbing "never leave you" imagery perfectly |

Have you watched VHS? I don't remember much of it, as I was supremely drunk, but I do remember that it was pretty gory for one of those found footage films. I don't remember being all that disappointed (except with the acting in parts), but that could just be my state of mind at the time. Either way, since you can watch it free anytime, I'd suggest looking into it. I remember it's a collection of stories, or tapes, and some are probably better than others, but if you want to kill some time, check it out anyway. |

Finally saw The Cabin In The Woods last night. I can see how people going into it expecting a solid horror film would be disappointed, as there were only a few really good scares. But I realize that that was not the point, and as a comedy movie, it was absolutely hilarious.
Best bits: Creepy guy getting put on speakerphone. Unicorn stabbing the guy through the chest. The Japanese schoolgirls turning the Exorcist-looking chick into a frog. Absolutely ridiculous movie. We need more that are this daring. 8/10
