Total Recall (2012)

okay, i have to admit i watched this because there's nothing else for me to watch for me. still, i thought it was pretty good and rather pretty. it's pretty much a non-stop rollercoaster ride and has some good ideas. some of the dialogue was taken straight from the short story (which was only 5 pages long anyway) and scenes have nods to Arnie's version (the three-breasted hooker although they're not bare)

curious mix of Blade Runner, Star Wars, Minority Report and The Matrix and some references to the Judge Dredd comics - the concept of "The Fall" was pretty well executed

the actors do well, especially the grudge match between Farrell and Bullock, both look like they were completely into it

hugely entertaining - 8/10

I saw Moonrise Kingdom last night and thought that it was fantastic. It was a nice and quirky comedy that didn't stray too far offbeat, and the all star cast was a plus too. Definitely the best movie (not counting The Dark Knight Rises) that I've seen in theatres since The Tree of Life. 9/10

I agree Great movie which instantly became one of my Wes Anderson favorites.

Tore, I am shocked by the lack of rats in your new avatar. Unless of course that's the Pied Piper.

Unfortunately, I haven't found much great rat art lately.

This is not the pied piper, but an illustration of the Snurfkin from a Tove Jansson book I had when I was little called Who Will Comfort Toffle?

Maybe I'll look around for a pied piper next time I change it.

Well, it's a cool illustration regardless.

Thanks! I read a lot of Tove Jansson's books when I was a kid and recently rediscovered her when I came across a moomin comics collection. She was a brilliant illustrator .. and a pretty decent painter too!

Total Recall

i was going into this expect to enjoy it.....but have to admit i was not expecting it to be quite this good

the world it's set in is visually amazing....the action is non stop and to my surprise the acting was actually very good....major kudos to Kate Beckinsale...who in my opinion really stood out in a great character

also just enough of the "original" story to really know whats going on but change enough to keep me guessing

this movie was nothing short of fun
