But they're not? Kelly McDonald, Billy Connolly, Kevin Mckidd, Robbie Coltrane, and Craig Ferguson are from Scotland. There were a few English actors thrown in but the major parts were filled with Scots.

I think John Ratzenberger was the only American in the cast, wasn't he? And he lived in London in his twenties so that should make him an expert on all things Scottish according to Howard.

I know they're Scots, the point I'm making, is that us southerners usually only understand about 50% of what true Scots are talking about, we guess the rest.

I thought the first post was very clear. Other nationalities speaking Scottish makes it easier to understand.

Anyway, most American accents are easy for us to understand. Its just the rest of the UK outside the south-east that we don't really understand.

I wonder how true that is. I'd imagine most of the American accents you're exposed to belong to people in the media or people who come from a higher socio-economic level. I'd be curious how easy it would be for you to understand some of the people in my neighborhood.

Yeah I know that and agree but Howard mentioned how it didn't seem like it was Scottish people doing the accents. Your post made it seem like if you could understand them, they're American. Since we were talking about the Brave actors it seemed like you were saying that they weren't Scottish. But we understand each other now...

Post a video of the type of accents you're talking about and I'll tell you.
