this movie follows the very typical Disney motif....but lets face it...it works.....story wise there is everything likable characters, plenty of laugh out loud moments, a couple of "smoke in the eyes" moments.....in general just a wonderful pixar/disney movie up there with the likes of Up, Monsters INC, Wall-e (etc etc)....as always they really went ahead of the selves visually....Merida is one bad ass princesses who really screws things up in a real fun way

the opixar short before the film was freaking awesome by the way

and there were archery school sign ups art the theater! :)

"Girl with the Dragon Tatoo." A bit graphic in parts, but Roger Craig was brilliant.

"Moneyball" was also fantastic... even non-baseball fans will like it.

when i finished reading this book sometime last year i said to myself "if they make a movie even 1/4 as good as this....that movie will rock!"

the didn't :(

had a friend of mine not seen this on Friday and was nice enough to warn me i would have walked out on my viewing (seriously it is that bad).....

a) it is absolutely NOTHING like the book....which in my opinion is fucking crazy....the book was a well done accurate telling of Lincoln's life and the screen play was written 100% by the author of the book....and literally raped himself and completely changed the plot, story and characters OF HIS OWN BOOK!!!! (hmmm money money money)

and in turn made a ****ing god awful over special effects piece of steaming crap....if you love these **** films with hundreds of slow motion over the top fight scenes....you';ll love this....as thats probably about 98% of the film.....i means seriously fuck historical accuracy, fuck great characters, and fuck a creative way of making a great man's rather depressing and average life really fucking cool

yeah **** all that.....the people want to see Mary Todd Lincoln fighting at the battle of Gettysburg! YEAH!....this was so off from the book and any fact that i was in suspense waiting to find out who kills Lincoln at the end.....

it boils down to this....

if you like the slow motion blow **** up type of movie with little plot and little story and undeveloped characters....you will love this

if you liked the book or care at all about the integrity of a great story....you'll hate it

just want to add that this really bummed me out :(

I'm honestly not surprised in the slightest that this movie is getting pretty bad-to-mediocre reviews across the board. The whole gimmick that Seth Grahame-Smith started was getting pretty played out in 2010 when the book came out to begin with, and now it's just... it's just kind of sad.

He's a terrible screen writer. Some people just can't change mediums.

A little disappointing after the previous outing from director and actor: The Hunger but this is a much more subtle film and the clues are there if you care to look.

Spoiler for spoiler alert:

The first 8-10 minutes are crucial. The endless circles the character makes around his apartment are a circle of his own making. He is bound by his own rules and cannot live his life any other way lest it lead to him questioning himself, which he never wants to.

Despite the wedding ring on a potential suitor, it is entirely superfluous to his own needs and his pursuit of the married woman is the only goal but this almost identical shot is repeated at the film's end but he doesn't reciprocate because he understands who he is and doesn't like what he has become.

He experiences erectile dysfunction for the only time in the film when he actually engages with someone yet the next scene sees him in the same hotel room happily banging a prostitute and achieving his goal.

If those scenes don't explain the film enough then look to the brother/sister subplot in the film.

I wonder how a spambot ends up advertising The Avengers on our forums. Could be an interesting theme for a documentary?
