If she was an android herself, the drama wouldn't work as well.
Yeah but
Spoiler for ":
In her chambers her surgery machine is "male only". In press interview before the film Scott says Prometheus has "maybe 2 robots" Scott is pretty good with details, doesn't it seem curious that no depiction of blood, sweat, emotion or any human characteristic was present on charlize?"

Spoiler for Prometheus:
Hm, I'd forgotten it was male only. But if she was an android, why would she need a surgery pod at all? "Alien androids" are full of milk and tubes (not human anatomy) and seem to work pretty well, even when destroyed like Bishop is in Aliens or indeed David in Prometheus.

Maybe she's a man

Spoiler for Prometheus:
Maybe the pod was designed for her "father". She knew he was on the ship so maybe the pod was intended for him in case he came out of hypersleep all ****ed up. I still think she's an android. She tossed David David against the wall like he was nothing. If you remember, two huge crewman had to pull Ash off Ripley in the first one. Androids are strong as hell.

Ah, of course it was designed for her father.

I still think she's human. Although she is described as cold, she actually shows quite a lot of emotion throughout the movie, such as anger with her father's quest for immortality and how she panics before she dies. It seems she also has sex with Janek. While travelling, she cryo-sleeps with the rest of the human crew (David doesn't sleep) and when waking up (she was the first to wake up), she tries to "exercise" off the cryo-nausea .. and again, she's annoyed with her father's want of a son (David). If she was an android, would she really have such feelings?

.. But I also believe the movie and her character was purposely made ambiguous to make you wonder, a bit like one could suspect Deckard was a replicant in Blade Runner

I think the amount of emotion she show's is comparable to david. I just watched 2001 a space oddysee for the first time, and am convinced that yes, an android could have such feelings Plus, the android from the original "alien" was in the cryo-sleep with the crew in the beginning, as well."

How do you guys feel about the Blade Runner sequel?

I think it will be awesome, no good noir sci fi since dark city.

I thought Minority Report was just as good as Dark City.

I think Dark City is overrated. I think the movie is based on an interesting idea, but feel that the execution is, on the whole, rather poor.

I didn't care too much for 1 and 2 but number 3 was a really good film so with Brad Bird in tow (The Simpsons, The Incredibles) I had high hopes for this but it was nothing short of a piss poor James Bond film.

A few decent set pieces cannot disguise how boring this film was. Shame
