re: House of 1000 Corpses.... yeah, that movie blows. Felt like a rehash of Texas Chainsaw Massacre II.
Not a fan of Rob Zombie at all.

Yeah, Devils Rejects I remember seeing in theatres. I do not know why, I hated House of 100 Corpses, but thought I would give him one more shot. While I found it to be better in comparison, had a few scenes that were well done.... but overall, thought it too was mostly crap.
His Halloween remake was the worst though, can write an entire essay on how much I hate it and thew reasons why... I will give the summerized version though: My problem with Halloween is Rob Zombie gave away too much about Michael Myers and set him up to much to be someone who is crazy. With the original, Carpenter did not do that, he just right off the bat had him kill his sister and than show his face and that all you hear is "Michael?". That was impactful because we knew nothing about him, and left everyone scratching their head and wondering what is up.... so later on it adds more to the tension and atmosphere (which is essential in any good horror movie). That was what was amazing about the original Halloween, it left so much to the imagination and left the viewer guessing all the way through. Now the remake, had no tension as a result of setting it up, giving us this story about Michael being bullied and coming from an abusive trailer trash home (Rob Zombies target audience most likely) and all the interviews with him in the hospital later. Zombie took all the mystery out and as a result it was just a gorefest with little suspense. Turned me off. Though I did like Malcom McDowell as Loomis somewhat. But all in all, I hated everything Rob Zombie did with Halloween. I mean in some ways it is still better than the majority of unneeded horror remakes this decade has brought us, and he did attempt something different.... but in my mind failed hard. But the original Halloween is my favorite horror movie, and maybe my standards are just high for anybody who tries to remake it. I just do not get Rob Zombie, the man is a huge horror fan, said to own one of the largest collections out there, so one would think his knowledge on the genre would be great enough to do something interesting... I mean I do not expect him to be a master director... more like a Tarentino type, a big kid with a passion for horror who could come up with something fun and interesting.. but I guess I expected to much of Rob Zombie. Oh well, at least he did something good with White Zombie, just a shame it all went downhill after that band called it a day.

What is?
Ohhhhhhh man. This movie was funny. So bad it's hilarious. Silly lines and well...just wait until they get on the motorcycle. It's a roller coaster ride from there. Netflix it. 1/10...10/10 for awesomeness Best baseball movie I've ever seen. I'm not a baseball fan so that's not saying much but I liked this movie a lot. Brad Pitt was very good in it. I didn't understand the nomination for Jonah Hill. I didn't see anything special. I music was also very good. Sorkin's screenplay for the Social Network was so much better but this was still very good. 8.5/10 Classic cool. Classic movie. Newman is amazing. 9/10 Last edited by Exo; 03-14-2012 at 12:59 PM. |
