What's The Latest Film You Have Seen?

Blue Velvet
Another "classic" that I hadn't seen yet, I enjoyed it quite a bit. The first appearance of Frank Booth and the sex scene were some of the most intense things I've seen in film. Not to mention that final gunshot to the face was possibly the most satisfying death I've ever seen in a movie. Loved the ending too. Will have to watch this again some time. 8.5/10

The part with Rosselini and the nude scene on the lawn was one of the most intense things I've ever seen.

Very remarkable film. I feel strongly that if Ebert were to view it again today, it'd be one of the best things he'd ever seen.

Superb albeit dark subject matter, although, it'd be one of the top films even loosely involving ball not involving MJ. Just solid ****.

There has been a whole slew of medieval/fantasy films over the last couple of years and most of them have sucked TBH but this is definitely one of the best of the bunch.

No sparkly white teeth, dodgy accents, beautiful sunsets or cutesy fights. It's brutal, bloody, has a base in actual history and looks stunning. All mist and rain and when someone gets hit by a sword they stay hit. The story is slight but it the overall execution makes up for that.

Most recently saw Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. Do yourself a favor, grab some of your closest friends that find fecal humor to be funny, and watch. It's hitting theaters in March, but you can grab it off of most on-demand providers and/or iTunes.

alright....i read the book.....the book is basically three different stories about how people deal with tragedy and grief....the movie concentrates only on one of the three stories......the worst and most annoying of the three stories.....the main stars of the movie are barely in the book but have huge parts in the film.....the kid is still annoying and needs to be punched in the face but may be actually worse in the film.....the only good character in the "Oscar arc" of the book was completely omitted from the movie......this movie would have sucked either way....with having read the book...or not knowing anything about it

Awww...this makes me sad.

I'm glad I didn't run out to see the movie now, though I'll still probably check it out after I read the book...which I'll be starting shortly!

Ebert seems to have a reputation for taking the moral high ground when it's uncalled for. Maybe his memory is a bit hazy and he forgets that he directed Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

Blue Velvet is a great film, Isabella Rossellini agreed to her part in it and as far as my knowledge goes never spoke out about being unfairly depicted in it.

Did not know what to make of this at all. Interesting dialogue, but the story was very slow, and not much of anything really happened in the end.

I only saw this because my wife wanted to watch it but it's really pretty good. I liked it.

Yeah it's one of those movies that you'll either love or hate, and if you're in the latter camp you'll probably have suspicions that the people who love it are just pretentious artsy film students who will love anything that shakes the status quo. I'm still undecided where I stand, I don't know if I can respect myself if I fall into the artsy film student camp, but there were some genuinely tense moments that stuck with me, the meat grinder section in particular. I'm also a huge fan of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. computer games, which took huge inspiration from this movie, so that may be playing on my opinion. On the other hand, I agree with you about the ending and the pacing of the story. Still, if nothing else you've earned some major film nerd cred for watching it.

I would recommend looking up the novel it was loosely based on, Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky.
