It was all so absurd and ridiculously unimaginable, I just threw logic out of the window. They didn't even try to make it a part of reality ... They were bending the course of a bullet with a simple arm movement for god's sake ! lmao. That is the only action movie that I enjoyed. It' not like some Bruce Willis jumping from a car and landing on a helicopter that we're supposed to believe. |

** Meh, not too bad, the acting was surprisingly decent, and the "ectoplasm" scene was pretty cool, but this movie just wasn't scary. The plot is this, a woman moves her family into this house, her eldest son is diagnosed with cancer, he begins having really bizarre supernatural experiences which his doctor just writes off as hallucinations that are the result of his illness or the medication that he's taking, he eventually starts acting strangely and becoming increasingly unpredictable. Well eventually the family learns that the house used to be a mortuary where occult practices like séances and necromancy were performed, but since the mother is too f*cking stupid to move the family into another house, oh so predictable chaos ensues and they eventually enlist the help of a minister to exorcise the place. Note to aspiring horror filmmakers. It's not really scary when something happens every 60 seconds, and right from the start of the movie, it ruins the pace of the film, there's no suspenseful build up, no tension, and it just makes the whole thing super predictable. Because of leap year, the satelite skipped and I missed about 40 minutes of the movie, and yet I didn't seem to miss any vital plot points whatsoever, and at the end, everybody lives happly ever after. This was "based on a true story" apparrently, but even if that's not a bunch of bullsh*t, I feel that any real ghostly phenomenon would be a hell of a lot more scary than this. I went to two horror houses last night, and those were actually pretty scary, and fun. Why couldn't this movie have been the same? |
Apocalypse Now - Redux version ..
http://eyeonfilm.files.wordpress.com...e_now_ver3.jpg At about 3 hours and 15 minutes, this extended version requires a little bit of dedication. According to Coppola, it's not a movie about vietnam - it is vietnam and the film is convincing in it's supposed understanding of what went down there. There's a lot of action scenes interspersed with slower scenes where Martin Sheens character has an internal narrative and reflection. Brutal and horrifying at times, poetic at others. It's a brilliant film and the scale of the production is incredible. Most movie buffs will already have seen it, but perhaps it was a while ago and perhaps it wasn't this extended version. If that's you, you should consider watching it again. :) |

Saw this on Halloween with some friends. I thought that, thought there wasn't much of a story, the characters seemed realistic and it was funny and still sad at some parts. I would definitely recommend this movie to anybody, because I really liked it. |

In Hollywood, people in need revolve around Dr. Henry Carter, a shrink: Jack, an aging star wants permission to cheat on his wife; Shamus is a director who's a cokehead; Patrick is a high-powered germophobic producer; Jeremy is a young writer looking for a break; Jemma, a high-school student, is skipping school; and Kate is an actress facing her mid-30s. Henry's wife recently died; he's grieving, blaming himself, smoking lots of pot. Henry's friends try an intervention; someone steals a patient's file from Henry; Patrick's assistant, the pregnant Daisy, sees promise in Jeremy's work; and, Jesus, Henry's drug dealer, sells him some potent weed. Can anything good come of this? |

no you didn't i'm being facetious =)
and whoever wrote that summary for imdb cannot use punctuation for sh*t |
I can only see one misplaced comma. I think their problem is more the fact that their style of writing is exceptionally bland and uninteresting.

Public enemies - a bit dissapointing for me.

i made it half way through Shrink and gave up. it's not often that i can't make it to the end of a film, but it was just killing me.
last night i watched Bottle Shock, which i enjoyed thoroughly. Alan Rickman was brilliant as usual. |

i agree it would have been more enjoyable if Paul Giamatti had turned out to be the ghost of a cyborg at the end and had a lightsabre duel with that other guy, and there could have been at least one good motorcycle chase... but you can't have everything.

One of the better sci-fi flicks I've seen in the last few years. Starts off as a rather annoying homage to Solaris/2001 but develops into something very original. And made for only 5 mil. Gotta respect that. Plus, it was directed by Bowie's son. |

But I thought Sideways was good. It didn't bore me at all. |

Charlie Bartlett's sort of a shrink movie. It's about a rich high school kid that wants to be popular so he sets up in the school's bathroom to help people with their problems. He gets physicians to put him on all these medications, then writes prescriptions for the other students. He dates the alcoholic principal's daughter, which results in all sorts of shenanigans. That's a terrible review, and makes the movie sound bad, but it's actually one of the best I've seen in quite a long time. I'd advise completely ignoring what I wrote about it and checking it out. |

One of the most compelling and poignant documentaries I've ever seen and I'd imagine one of the best documentaries about mental illness. Absolutely heartbreaking. |

^ Good as a kind of 'how to' guide to dramatic writing, but as a film it's pretty flawed, with a good few plotholes to be seen. Decent enough overall I guess. The protagonist's combover is absolutely hilarious too. |
re D.Johnston:
The best part is when Butthole Surfers acid makes him schizo. And the helicopter crash with his dad was effin rad. The rest was all talking if i remember correctly. Big business monkey. He's seen as like the quintessential idiot savant for hipsters but 'Hi' was really barbed... I saw some live footage of him recently and i wasn't buying it. stick to the dox. Good he has fans to pay the no doubt extortionate med bills |
