My point was that a part doesn't need to be filled by an A-List Actor in order to be good. The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy is a good example of that as it features few actors you could consider A-List before the movies came out, yet had very good casting.

If you have a beef with Watchmen's casting because you didn't like how they interpreted the parts, that's fine, but then it's their acting you have a problem with, not how well known they are.

well, if the director had chosen well-known actors and who had the chops, rather than newbies, and those who would had actually studied their parts, as was described in the graphic novel, it would have made the film better

not by a long shot, but just slightly better

as US said, LOTR's actors are mostly pretty good and had the chops

But these types of films are always so much better when they have distinguished actors playing key or supporting roles, they add credibility for lack of a better word to the whole thing. By doing this, LOTR could easily get away with having laregly unknown actors playing the leading roles, or in the case of Viggo Mortenson an actor that had just never struck it big before these films.

Perhaps I'm just not dazzled by fame as much as the average movie watcher. I don't mind unknown talent as long as it's talent.

I actually hate to see big names appear in films; I find that it inhibits the story's ability to fully engage me (there are some exceptions). I can't tell you the names of the characters that most big stars have played; I always have the actor foremost in mind, not the character.

This is a documentary on The Rock-afire Explosion, an animatronic band that experienced great success in the 1980s before being bought out and removed from Showbiz Pizza restaurants by Chuck E. Cheese.

It was also a big part of my childhood, because while the company was going bankrupt, they were selling the sets to other restaurants. In my area as a child, there were three to five that I know of, all called "Billy Bob's Pizza Wonderland". I was always scared ****less of Beach Bear.

From this documentary, I learned that in spite of my conviction that it was a local thing (Mitzi the mouse appeared to be wearing a Marshall cheerleading uniform, for ****'s sake!) it actually started in Florida and used to be a big deal.

There is still one Billy Bob's in my area, about 25 minutes away in Barboursville, WV, and my friends and I are heading down there to rediscover our childhood quite soon.

I absolutely loved the documentary. Aaron Schecter, then man who created the Rock-afire, honestly seems like a very nice man, and I feel awful for him that his big dream crashed and burned.

ya know, i normally look to the director, not the actors, if i decide on watching a movie

but for The Watchmen - the cast was pretty paltry and miscast and Zack Snyder (director) is usually ok

You forgot to add "in my opinion" to that!

Watched The Matrix Reloaded. All in all a delightful romp with fine production values.

"Howard the Duck", or whatever you call yourself these days... I used to think I agreed with you on stuff... but lately I've disagreed with just about everything you've posted on this site...
