actually another movie adaption of the book came out this year even :-/
|
just watched "no country for old men"
best movie this year |
Man, that film has been hyped so much I'm liable to hurt someone if it doesn't blow me to smithereens...
|
Saw The Truman Show (despite my dislike of Jim Carrey) and Trainspotting last night; really liked Trainspotting.

Scrooged, not a big Bill Murray fan, but I enjoyed parts of the movie and disliked other parts.

I enjoyed I am Legend but I would really like to read the book because after the credits started to roll I felt like I was missing parts of it. Film doesn't capture some of the greater details that books can give you. I could tell at certain parts of the movie that if I read the description of that scene it would've been better. I saw Stranger Than Fiction this morning and I totally loved it. When it started to turn into a chick flick I wasn't loving that part too much but by the end of it all I was satisfied that I decided to stick with it til the end. Will Ferrell should really get more credit for that role. He was awesome in it. |
I Am Legend absolutely slaughtered the book.

plus, you werent missing PARTS of the book, you were missing most, if not all of it =/ |
The Omega Man is a more faithful adaptation of the book.

I Am Legend is one of the greatest horror novels of all time and I guess since so much of the beauty about it occurs in Neville's head and deals with his own mental state it's kind of difficult to transition it to film but they changed everything. The dog, his status in life prior to vampiric infection and then there was that whole colony of survivors thing which was lame. In fact the whole Ethan/Anna thing was really lame, it was cooler when it was just Ruth and she totally screwed him up. It made the ending extremely poignant and they didn't stay true to that in the movie at all which bugged me. They used the quote (he is legend, though in the book it's actually I am Legend but considering who was saying it the difference is okay) and it made no sense because they don't go in depth about the whole vampire thing. The only hint is when he looks at his dog's teeth after she gets infected and that's something you wouldn't get unless you knew they were vampires. Congrats hollywood, you've butchered another book. |

ive heard so many mixed reviews from people about i am legend, i dont even know if i wanna see it for fear i might be disappointed
sweeney todd was awesome probably wouldnt have been as enjoyable to me if johnny depp wasnt in it :pP |
There's nothing to be worried about, it definitely isn't teh suckage...;)
OT: Saw No country for old men, and I'm happy to report that it does deserve all the praise...:yeah: |
I also saw Sweeney Todd yesterday and the thing that bothered me the most was the texture of the blood. You'd think they'd work on that more since they are using so much of it.
No country for old men is next on my list. I also want to see Juno after that. |
road warrior

i havent seen the original yet.
i watched MAD MAX vs the SUPER DOME and it seemed to family-film oriented, not nearly as good as road warrior. ill try to download the first. Is it just called MAD MAX? |
Yeah just MAD MAX. It's a lot more low key, but is vital as a pointer to what drives Max. Considering it's low budget, it was extremely innovative. It absolutely rocks. MAD MAX 3 meh.
|
im just impressed with the pacing in the films. In the first hour of Road Warrior they're is maybe 2 lines of dialogue.
Its funner watching these action films when you know all the stunts had to have been done by somebody, no cgi or anything |
Paragraph 175- I rarely watch documentaries because they usually make me depressed for the next day or two and this was no exception. It was about homosexuality, a mainly overlooked story, during Hitler's regime for those who might want to watch it.
|
Gay Nazis...sounds fantastic...

|
Pathfinder.
Vikings Vs Indians. Mass brawl.CGI blood. Pile of poop. Clancy Brown-slight redemption. |
Mad Max 1
i dont know what you were smoking while watching this lee, in fact, im highly doubt full you even did watch it! I was sooo boner'd up for this film-yes ill get to see how MAD, max would become....but he ****ign doesnt! they should have called the goddamn movie something better suited, like, iunno, "General normal somewhat clueless as to where to be but will come through barely after losing a baby Max" thats the problem, hes not crazy at all. he's wearing ****ing cackies and button up shirts while eating mango on his outdoor patio? In fact the only person who seems to be actually MAD is his retarded wife. Talk about the worst parent on screen ever-how the **** do you leave your baby on the beach, but remember to get your dog(its a whole different dog then the sequel to-wtf?) She also leaves the baby in the trunk of a car during a high speed chase with insane clown posse fans on motorcycles? And talk about the weakest transition to a sequel ever. Where the **** is the nuclear explosion, in fact, how the **** did the world change that fast, max would have to be about 100 years old in the sequel... And whats with the jazz music oddly cutting in at random times? I can understand it during a smex scene, but when somebodys hand has just been ripped off? Why did he have to use Max the character in "Road Warrior", why didn't he just start off fresh with "Mad Clive" or "Mad Henry", something that woulda made sense... :-/...didnt like it.. saw "Stuck on you" as well. Funny movie :D |

A funny and charming little Israeli comedy/drama, definitely one of the better films I've seen this year. |
A BITTERSWEET LIFE
http://www.lovefilm.com/lovefilm/ima...8619-large.jpg I have heard a few things about this film over the last couple of years, so as I saw it in a sale I thought why not? A Korean film that is primarily a revenge thriller. As is quite common with a lot of Asian films, the opening 45 mins are deliberately slow paced but I still didn't get a feel for the characters and their motivations. What follows is at times a highly stylised (there are some great cameras shots and P.O.V shots), but predictable revenge thriller, replete with some questionable plot contrivances. The tone is jarring too. There are a couple of set pieces that are jet black comedy and this didnt sit with me too well. The ending marched on until it's obvious conclusion and I was not overly impressed, although I was mildly entertained. Then came the money shot. A forty second sequence that closes the film, echoing an earlier shot in the film that completely flipped my opinion of the film. The film then takes on a whole new meaning and inconcistencys suddenly shred their skin to reveal a completely different meaning. It's not the greatest film. Nowhere close. However I am still utterly beguiled by film's ability to change your whole opinion on single shots or short sequences. P.S This film was reviewed without divulging any plot points whatsoever ;) |
i actually saw the movie "snatch" a while ago
it was actually pretty good the subtitles were definetely helpful, couldnt understand a damn thing they were saying otherwise it kind of reminded me of a cooler version of the oceans movie with the setup & everything |
