Audition - holy f'uck. Very graphic scene at the end. Enjoyed this a lot, though. Pretty unnerving at times.

After Hours - offbeat Scorsese comedy film, and a kinda unusual movie for him (based on others I've seen). Extremely good!

I like Jet Li, but I have to say Ip Man with Donnie Yen was more interesting than anything I've seen starring Jet Li, even if it was basically the same clichèd Kung Fu stuff.

edit :

Legend of the Drunken Master with Jackie Chan is my favourite Kung Fu flick though. :D

Not a fan of Jet Li or anything, but tell me about a better movie dealing with multiverses and/or fighting yourself from a different dimension and I'm on it.

this is Donnie Yen:-

and he's too macho for that pussy sc-fi crap

I don't watch Kung Fu movies for the sake of machismo. Neither do I think the actors are very macho, it's just not the way they express themselves. If I wanna watch something macho, I watch western action movies, like the latest Rambo ;)

So Gervais and Merchant CAN write different characters to the range offered in The Office, Extras and more recently Lifes Too Short.

Coming of age drama set in 70's Britain about a group of friends desperate to escape their working class, poverty-stricken backgrounds and the small town they were born and raised in, Cemetery Junction.

I really enjoyed this. I will be buying the DVD.

I couldnt escape the buzz and the hype surrounding this. However one of my friends also says that this is the THEE worst film he has ever seen. I wanted to enjoy it as its directed by Edgar Wright and I did...I think. Truly bizarre. I followed it and understood it but found myself asking "why?" mainly. Would it make more sense if I had read the comics?

Just looking at that poster makes me skeptical of Gervais' dramatic acting chops.

He only has a bit part in it. Both he and Merchant are in it but they dont have leading roles.

the comics only expands a bit on the storyline, and only certain parts are different

no, if you don't understand the movie, you wouldn't glean much more info off the comics

Something that came up late at night on local tv. I only saw the 1st half but it seemed bizarre and fun enough to warrant watching the whole thing.

Well, I understood the film. As in I knew what was happening, I just didnt really "get" why it was happening. I didnt get why it was presented the way it was. I enjoyed it though.
