I'll check it out, I liked Coffee and Cigarette's and Jarmusch's works with John Lurie so I'm sure I'll dig it.

It's one of my favorite movies by him. The first segment, with Winona Ryder, is not nearly as good as the rest of the movie imo, but the other four segments are pretty stellar.

That's why I consider it the best movie I've ever seen. Not only is it visually stunning and INCREDIBLY accurate with it's science, it can be taken so many different ways. Some say the monolith represents the idea of evolution or God or aliens. Some say the whole movie is about conception and birth.

I doubt there will ever be a movie that is as stunning in it's overall presentation and the fact it is so open to interpretation only makes it more amazing that it's nearly 50 years old. A landmark in cinema, then and now.

^I'm sure I'd like it a lot more on repeated viewings with these things in mind.

Also just finished The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. I'd seen Fellowship ages ago, but oddly enough, never got around to watching all of them. In a way, I'm glad I saved them until now because they completely blew me away. They have to be among my favorite movies ever now.

I had to sit through both the remake of Arthur and Bridesmaids for a work thing tonight.

It was painful but I need the money.

Russel Brand's remake of Arthur pretty much epitomized absolutely everything wrong with mainstream entertainment in my eyes. A completely useless and unnecessary remake of a better film for no other reason than to place current products.

Bridesmaids. Just ugh The bridal shower one-upping scene that goes on four times longer than necessary was painful enough. Then they decided to make the airplane bit even longer. To the filmmakers credit, the seemingly endless airplane bit is the only time I've ever had a film make me feel like I was actually trapped in an airplane (that's not really a good thing though). Was cool seeing one of the dude's from The IT Crowd playing something different too.

Not so much a film, but I just finished watching This is England '88.

I love how well the film has lead onto the two short series, really hoping they do a third.

The OD scene with Perfect Day is probably my new favourite movie scene.
