What's The Latest Film You Have Seen?

You'd never seen the original or you'd never seen the "Version You've Never Seen"? Not sure how different they are anyway though.

The original. Sorry if that poster makes it confusing.

The only difference I'm aware of is that the infamous "stairs" scene isn't in the original.

Haven't seen the newer one myself. The original is one of my all-time favourite films. My mom wanted me to watch it when I was around 8 years old or something because she said it was a classic, and I think I got to the scene where she randomly barfs all over the guy before I ran away. Sat through the whole thing a few years later though.

there is a superior "director's cut" released about twenty years ago that restores Father Karras' dream

It's interesting to hear someone who just saw it for the first time recently actually enjoy it. I was late to the party with The Exorcist as well and didn't see it until I was in my 20s, thirty something years after it came out. Despite having really wanted to see it, I was extremely disappointed and thought the movie fluctuated between boring and unintentionally humorous. I always assumed this was because I saw it so many years after it was made and it just hadn't aged well, but maybe not. Maybe I wouldn't have liked it no matter when I watched it.

I love horror movies, but The Exorcist just didn't do it for me.

I went in with the expectation that this movie would be dated, and I think I just kept it at the back of my mind. Yes, some parts were a bit boring and almost somewhat unnecessary, but the parts that mattered genuinely frightened me more than any other horror movie I've seen (admittedly though, I haven't seen many). That demon-possessed face gives me shivers just thinking about it. Powerful stuff.
