This is a great little movie. Horror and kooky rarely go hand in hand but this managed it easily.

A brilliant animated fantasy written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, who also wrote and directed Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. As with any of his films this is rich in meaning, detail and is visually spectacular. The story is quite complex and can be difficult to grasp at times but does a great job of addressing the relationship between humans and mother nature.

It's a cliche to herald this movie but it really is a stunning film. A masterpiece.

They are claiming here its uncut :

The Devils (DVD) (1971) (NTSC) (US Import): Amazon.co.uk: Oliver Reed, Vanessa Redgrave, Dudley Sutton, Max Adrian, Gemma Jones, Aldous Huxley, John Whiting, Ken Russell, Michael Gothard, Brian Murphy, Georgina Hale: Film & TV

Not cheap though. I remember seeing it in the cinema and wondering what all the fuss was about, Im pretty sure some cinemas showing it had protesters outside - must be something to do with the nun rape scene ??

Exit Through the Gift Shop

I liked it, up until it focused more on Mr. Brainwash.

I finally watched Suspiria and some of the suspense music that ended up being a mixture of noise and chanting was really grating on my nerves like nails on a chalk board.

When I got to the ending, I just shut off my tv in disappointment. The ending just didn't make sense to me.

That's Italian Horror cinema for you especially Dario Argento. Most of his films are about set pieces with the story taking second place but what set pieces they are. The opening murder in all it's baroque opulence. The brilliant use of colour when the beds are set up. The fall into barbed wire. The use of running water throughout and that soundtrack is masterful! but I can understand people dissing it too. Bad dubbing, some dodgy F/X and almost non linear plot however I think it's a damn masterpiece and it has a savage beauty.

Best not check out that other masterpiece of Italian Horror The Beyond by Lucio Fulci then! That makes even less sense but it is a fantastic Horror film and so unique.

Argento's Tenebre is a little more linear if you want to give him another go. The roof tracking shot is brilliant.

I watched "What's Your Number" last week.

I thought it was pretty funny. Didn't expect much from it though.
