True Grit (2010)

Good film, Bridges was excellent as usual. Didn't like Matt Damon as a cowboy, but who does? I found that Brolin's part was entirely too short for him to be a featured actor, they could have put a few scenes mid-film so we could follow his story, rather than tossing him in the last 10 minutes and calling him a supporting actor.

I think because of his work in No Country for Old Men, the studios probably wanted him featured no matter how small his role was. I though this movie was great, I'm going to be picking up a copy in a little bit.

I preferred the original. It was entertaining, but i expected more from The Cohens.

It kicks you in the gut, slaps you around and doesn't let you breathe. It's what could be called a true body horror. The second part turns into something like metaphysical horror. It leaves you thinking long. Really good film. It balances between making you feel (like every good horror should) and making you think (which elevates it beyond torture genre). It has some minor flaws in the second part before the end, but still, the underlying feeling of sadness made the strongest impact on me.
I reviewed this a while back here:

I still think it is one of the best horror movies of the last 15 years.

my girl's current favorite film so I decided to give it a chance and watch it.

It was okay. The dance numbers were the only highlight for me and as soon as Christina started singing on stage she ruined it for me.
