Nope, never saw that coming :D |
Me and the GF went to the cinema and saw Sam Raimi's "Drag Me To Hell" ..
http://dellohdell.files.wordpress.co...er-560x829.jpg Wow, what a movie. Christine Brown gets cursed by an old lady (witch) where she's tormented by this ghostly demon for 3 days before it takes her to hell. Of course, she has to deal with the spirit's torments and try to avoid her spooky fate. It's a fairly outlandish plot, but Raimi's effective style and some subtle insertions of humour make it all come together. The movie was actually pretty spooky too! Not the kind of spooks that will make you look over your shoulder when you walk home afterwards, but definetly the kind of spooky which makes for a very exciting film. I felt a bit bad for the GF, though. Being familiar with Raimi's earlier films, I expected something more like Evil Dead 2 and comforted my GF (who didn't want to watch a scary flick) that it was probably more like a horror comedy and that it wouldn't be scary .. She was hiding under my jacket through much of the film. I'm sorry! Anyways, I thought it was an excellent film, truly refreshing to watch. Those who are familiar with Raimi's earlier films , particularly the Evil Dead trilogy, will notice little tributes, signatures or whatever you call things he's done in his older films .. And I think some of those were deliberately put in to please fans of his Evil Dead movies. I was pleased! Watch it if you feel like watching an effective, exciting and occasionally funny horror movie. |
titanic was on tv tonight, i cryed. hadnt seen it from i was young & didnt obviously fully understand it, god movies from your childhood are so much better when you watch them later in life :D.
poor jack is all i can say :( |

Pretty brutal movie at times, but man is it ever well made and acted. I'm not normally a Nicolas Cage fan but he did a very good job in this movie. One of these days I'm going to get around to watching Hotel Rwanda, Blood Diamond, and Lord of War all in a row and see how I feel afterwards. http://transitiology.files.wordpress...8/04/awake.jpg Wasn't overly impressed with this movie, however it really wasn't THAT bad, in fact I thought the acting from everyone in it was above what I had expected. My only real complaint was the shortness of the film, however I got it for free from the library so I guess I can't really complain too much. I think some movies are getting arbitrarily longer, but then there are some movies that do the bare minimum of 90 minutes. Every so often it's nice to not have to sit through 2 - 2 1/2 hours of movie. |

So many people I know talked this movie up big time, telling me how hilarious it was and how they never stopped laughing, yada yada yada. After all that, I was really stoked to see it, and boy was it a big let down. Yes, it had it's moments, and I think Sandra Bullock is a good comedic actress, but this movie was waaay more chick flick than comedy. It was...cute. Not great and not overly funny. Terribly predictable and cliche. Probably won't watch it again and wouldn't recommend anyone else run out and see it either. |
Funny People - Not Apatow's best, probably in the middle, miles ahead of Knocked Up, but still so far behind 40YOV on both drama and comedy. Sandler effectively carries this film for a good 90 minutes until they probably bring in Mann/Bana. It's a film that is basically based around characters you are supposed to dislike, people around the LA scene for the most parts, celebs who are selfish, pricks, and above others, and then leeches.
Probably a 7/10 though from me. |

I agree, this movie was cliche and almost completely unrewarding. I thought it was funny that you could see it on Reynolds' face that he hated doing this. You could almost see him biting his lip to get through some of those scenes. I did find some of the shots of Alaska to be a redeeming point of the movie. The setting was absolutely beautiful. But other than that, I wouldn't watch it again either. |

One of the most lunatic yet hilarious films I've...come across in ages. Dylan Baker deserves an Oscar! :D |

Finally got around to watching this 1974 classic last night and I gotta say it was a very well done movie. The scene with the knife and the nose was pretty brutal to watch for the times. It also had one of the best lines I've heard in a good long while "Forget it Jake, it's Chinatown". The plot did get a little hard to follow at times, but that's more due to the fact that I was on this site. Overall if I can find it on sale then I will definitely buy it because it's something I'd want to watch more than once. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...BVL._SL500.jpg I love the manga but the anime has yet to really thrill me in the way that the manga has. I do like how they make Scar out to be a bit more human than the manga did which was pretty cool. |

A very sad and tense movie considering the music that came out of it. |
^the concert on the rooftop was the greatest. But didn't feel any sad moments, we already know the smallest detail about the break-up
http://www.tamarside.co.uk/faculties...y-malone-2.jpg Just watched Bugsy Malone. What a bad movie, the ugliest acting I've seen with the worst plot to be filmed - What's with the cream shooting guns that's so horrifying! Thank god for Jodie Foster, or I wouldn't been able to finish the movie. That girl was incredible. http://ventnorblog.com/copy_images/tallulah-bugsy.jpg |

A pretty ****ed up movie but good none the less. http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/7959/84649largeth5.jpg Kind of a lesser version of fight club. Still good though. The message was kept the same. Stand up for your self and dont always play it by the books and Johnny Law. |

^I may have loved it if I was still a kid.
[I used to love Richy Rich with Macaulay Culkin as a kid, kids do love any movie with kids in it] |

They do a really good job at not displaying all of the bullshit that was commencing at that point. I only know this because I just read the Rolling Stones article about the break up and Yoko Ono was one of the lesser issues of the band. |
No I wasn't talking about Yoko Ono. I was talking about the 4 knowing from the White Album sessions that they were going to break up soon, cause they just didn't sound homogeneous. Everyone had to go his own way.
------------------ I re-watched "I Am Sam" today ... Great movie, great performances ... and very good Beatles covers btw. http://img133.rockyou.com/39/39879/3...1159288857.jpg |
Into the Wild.
Such such such a good movie. Acted excellently, the plot carried beautifully. It'll teach you a lot about life and yourself. |
The Deer Hunter - Still a pretty damn good fiim, but still not as great as some make out, it is god damn lengthy and feels it, which is the major problem to be honest, Walken is absolutely sublime, as the other main hitters here. 8/10

Loved it. It was great how much of it was ground in what actually happened (despite the odd dramatisation, but that's understandable). My brother liked it and he knows virtually nothing about football, never mind it's history. Says everything really. |
Sheen is truly becoming a tremendous actor as well, yeah he's probably limited to British characters, but he's pulled his 3 big ones off wonderfully for me. Top film, obviously some of it's over the top, and arguably a bit of bollocks in there, but it's good, fun, and good rendition of the man himself.

I want to see this film. Probably the only football manager who was a true genius.
"I wouldn't say I was the best manager in the business. But I was in the top one." "The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years." "They say Rome wasn't built in a day, but I wasn't on that particular job." Brian Clough. |
http://onemonkeyshow.files.wordpress...backbone-2.jpg
The Devil's Backbone. I went into the movie thinking that it was going to be the typical horror movie that attempts to make you jump every once in awhile but I was sorely mistaken. I don't think she movie should even be classified as horror. I was impressed with it and I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet. If you can get past reading subtitles then it's a great movie to watch. |

I actually saw this for the first time yesterday and isn't it a riot? :D
Don't you.. bah da da da... forget about me. Oh, and the creepy goth girl looked better before the makeover. http://jonnyrosemont.files.wordpress...mb-400x493.jpg |
Started watching that movie at least three times and never finished it. My friend adores it, one day I'm going to have to buy it and watch it through when I'm sober ...

I remember watching this movie and having huge issues about it. It doesn't really advocate being true to yourself but just says you have to change who you are in order to be cool. I guess that's not dissimilar to most high school/college movies these days. |

8.5/10 great movie! not as good as "Spirited Away" but definitely in that category. |
http://www.affichescinema.com/insc_b/birth_nation.jpg
The Birth of a Nation For anyone who doesn't know or couldn't guess by the poster, this 1915 silent film is about the American Civil War and the founding of the Ku Klux Klan (who it depicts as heroes). To say this movie is absurdly racist and an enormous steaming pile of revisionist history bullshit is an understatement. However, it is a landmark film in the history of cinema filled with many innovations which are now completely entrenched pieces of the language of cinema especially in terms of the camera work and the editing. It's also an interesting unintentional document of how socially acceptable extreme racism was in American culture back in those days. On the other hand, it was controversial even in it's day so that at least gives me a little hope. Worth watching if you have an interest in the history of cinema and don't mind sitting through a silent film that's over three hours long but be advised that this movie will probably piss you off. |
gross...

Crank 2 - I thought the first was awesome in the wholly this is stupid but done in a fun don't take it serious way. The second, is kinda just ****ing nuts at times, still the crew is blatantly only having fun with it all, and it just........works, some of the stuff is absolutely roflworthy. An absolutely crackers movie, yet just so much fun. 6/10

GI joe teh Pie-RAted version.
