If we can only reccomend one movie at a time my first reccomendation is:
A great film about growing up in 80's england, and the threat of violence permeates every scene.

It is worth it just for the astonishing central performance of 11 year old Thomas Turgoose who had never acted before this film. The music is great too and exactly what 80's skinheads were listening to. The film is in it's correct regional accent, so this may put people off. I think you would enjoy it or at least appreciate it.
