Control and Buena Vista Social Club, though that could be considered somewhat live video.

Immortal Beloved - Loosely based on the life of Ludwig Van Beethoven.

Before The Music Dies - Documentary on the progression of the record industry versus the case of the progression of artists.

Until The Light Takes Us - Following Fenriz from Darkthrone, probably gives the least focus on the dramaticism of the early Black Metal scene, explaining things from what seems like a much more personal standpoint.

Such Hawks, Such Hounds - Really chill stoner/doom metal documentary.

The Commitments

A breath of fresh air in that it isn't about a new band forming and becoming incredibly famous, but rather a local band which builds a following locally but breaks up. Another interesting angle is that the main character isn't a musician but a guy who wants to put a band together and manage it, rather than perform in it.

That Thing You Do!

About a fictional early 60's one hit wonder group. Tom Hanks stand out as a record company bizzer who can be ruthless when it comes to business but shows flashes of humanity as well. The soundtrack album is good as well, especially the song Mr. Downtown.

If I had to pick one all time favorite music film, it would be Get Crazy, about a small time promoter's efforts to put on a big New Year's Eve concert. The film is both a funny satire and celebration of the rock world. A number of musicians have roles in the film. Lou Reed plays a hilarious Dylan-like figure, whose every utterance, no matter how mundane, the other characters in the film regard as great insight. Former teen hearthrobs Fabian and Bobby Sherman are also funny as the bad guy's henchmen. The version to see is the uncut one, not the one censored for network television.

A music related film I like. A musical pilgrimage to the east.

Spoiler for SAZ - The Key of Trust:

Quote:
It’s the journey of her life: Petra Nachtmanova journeys to both the end of the world and the centre of her heart. Saz on her back, the Berlin musician heads off in search of the origins of a string instrument tangled in myths, which found its way to her in the streets of Kreuzberg.

She travels from Berlin to Istanbul, through Anatolia, over the snowy peaks of the Caucasus and into the dusty desert of eastern Iran.
"Saz" is a film about the power of music and the scope of the world, simultaneously a road movie and a quest for meaning, a breathtaking trip in the border region between Europe and Asia, which shows that despite conflict and crisis, there is a human everyday life out there, as well as something special that holds us together.
Subtitles: English, Turkish, German, French, Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Greek, Hungarian, Azerbaijani
